Locally-assembled Mazda CX-30 to launch earlier next year

KUALA LUMPUR: The local distributor of Mazda cars in Malaysia, Bermaz Motor is expected to introduce the locally-assembled CX-30 in the local market by Q1 2022. The report comes from RHB Investment Bank and directly from the horse's mouth. Therefore, we still have our reservations on the subject.

Also mentioned in the RHB Investment Bank report is CX-30’s total contribution to the company’s local sales; i.e., around 4 to 21 percent of the total sales. And with the arrival of the CKD model, these figures are only expected to grow.

As for the ongoing Mazda CX-30, it is imported from Japan and is offered in five variants, namely 2.0G Core, 1.0G High, 2.0G Ignite, 1.8D High, and 2.0G Ignite. The price for the same range from RM 149,000 to RM 185,000.

The automaker or the bank report has not revealed much about the CKD CX-30, however sources close to the automaker says that the upcoming model is expected to be available at a 10% price reduction.

However, what we do know is that the CKD Mazda CX-30 will be manufactured at the brand’s Kulim facility under a 70:30 joint venture between Mazda Motor & Bermaz Motor.
