Mazda 2 Sedan facelift launched in Mexico

KUALA LUMPUR: The facelifted Mazda 2 was revealed in July 2019 in the hatchback form. The manufacturer has now launched the Mazda 2 Sedan in Mexico. It follows the hatchback counterpart’s footsteps and gets new features along with a fairly substantial redesign.

Design-wise, the new Mazda 2 sedan gets a redesigned Kodo grille that contains a thicker chrome surrounding. The chrome extends and covers the area under the headlights, which now have become slimmer.

Under the grille, there is an air intake. The design resembles the redesign of the Mazda 6. Coming to the rear, there are regular bulb tail lights along with the re-profiled bumper, which gets the body colour finish. A fake full-width air vent gets its place between the reflectors. The 16-inch alloy wheels get a new multi-spoke design.

Getting inside, the new Mazda 2 Sedan comes with new trim and colour options. There is a Mazda Connect infotainment system that supports both the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The sedan features a new Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture. The seats get a new design. However, there’s no information on whether the suspension has been improved or not.

The facelifted Mazda 2 Sedan is equipped with a 1.5-litre Skyactiv-G naturally-aspirated direct-injected four-cylinder engine. It is capable of pushing out a maximum power of 110 PS, which comes at 6,000 rpm and the peak torque is 141 Nm at 4,000 rpm. It is the six-speed manual or automatic gearbox, that takes care of the transmission duties. Also, there are G-Vectoring Control.
