KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is bringing back MercedesTrophy in 2026, marking the 36th edition of the brand’s long-running golf tournament for customers.

MercedesTrophy has been running since 1991 and has grown into one of the better-known amateur golf competitions worldwide, attracting more than 60,000 golfers every year across over 60 countries.

For the Malaysian leg, the qualifying rounds will be held at Tropicana Golf & Country Club and Kota Permai Golf & Country Club. The first two rounds are scheduled for Tuesday, May 12 and Wednesday, May 13 at Tropicana, followed by two more rounds on Tuesday, June 9 and Wednesday, June 10 at Kota Permai.
The June 10 round will serve as the men’s and women’s qualifying round.
Those who make it through will head to the MercedesTrophy 2026 National Final, which will take place on Monday, June 22 at The ELS Club Desaru Coast.
There are four competition categories in total. For men, Category A is for those with a handicap of 0 to 12, Category B covers handicap 13 to 20, while Category C is for handicap 21 to 24. The women’s category, listed as Category D, is open to players with a handicap of 0 to 36.
The stakes go beyond the local tournament. The top three players with the highest Stableford scores at the National Final will earn the chance to represent Malaysia at the MercedesTrophy World Final in Germany, which is set to run from September 28 to October 2, 2026.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is also dangling a major incentive for anyone with a perfect short game. The first golfer to score a hole-in-one on either of the two designated par-three holes at each tournament venue will win a Mercedes-Benz E 350 e, with an on-the-road price of RM427,888 excluding insurance.
Another headline prize is the “Drive to the Major” challenge. At the National Final in Malaysia, the golfer who delivers the straightest drive closest to the centre line will win a fully sponsored trip to The Open 2026, which will take place from July 15 to 20.
Apart from that, players can also expect Mercedes-Benz merchandise and gifts from tournament partners such as Mercedes-Benz Financial, 100Plus, Crestlink, Desaru Coast, Dr Med, IROAS, Luen Heng, Taylormade, The Edge, and The ELS Club Desaru Coast. Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast is also supporting this year’s event.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia says the tournament is open to owners of vehicles bought from authorised retailers within the last five years. Registration is on a first come, first served basis via the brand’s golf microsite.
