New GWM Haval H7 launch confirmed for Australia; What about Malaysia?

KUALA LUMPUR: GWM has introduced the all-new Haval H7 in Australia ahead of the official launch slated for October this year. Positioned as a mid-large urban SUV, the new H7 combines a boxy design and off-road capabilities, targeting urban professionals, young families, and adventure-oriented SUV buyers.

GWM Haval H7: Key highlights

• The SUV features a bold, boxy exterior design with upright proportions, strong body lines, refined elements and rugged design cues. Key highlights include a fortress-inspired square grille, mortise-and-tenon square headlights, and crystal facet tail lights.
• In terms of size, the new Haval H7 measures 4,800 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,843 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,738 mm. 

• The SUV features a 25-degree approach angle, 32-degree departure angle, 20.1-degree breakover angle, 580-mm maximum wading depth, and an electronically controlled rear differential lock, delivering genuine SUV capability.
• It will be offered in both hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants in Australia, both featuring GWM’s innovative Hi4 technology.
• The PHEV is claimed to offer 320 kW of maximum power and 670 Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a Hi-4 AWD setup, enabling the vehicle to complete the century sprint in 4.9 seconds. The estimated combined driving range is up to 844 km, which includes a pure EV range of up to 137 km.

• The equipment kit includes a 15.6-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, and a 360 camera with transparent view.

GWM Australia and New Zealand head of marketing and communications Steve Maciver said, "The all-new Haval H7 is an exciting addition to our Australian line-up and brings something genuinely different to the mid-size SUV segment. We see a real opportunity for the H7 in Australia. As well as being loaded with the latest technology, including Hi4, it broadens the appeal of the Haval range.”

GWM Haval H7 launch timeline for Malaysia

This rugged, boxy off-road SUV made its Malaysia debut at KLIMS 2026 in the Hi4 PHEV version earlier this year. 

Later at GATE 2026, GWM Malaysia announced that the SUV will be offered as a CKD model, locally assembled at the EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) facility in Pegoh, Melaka, alongside the Ora 5 HEV. The Haval H7 CKD is expected to launch in Malaysia in 2027.
