New Lexus GX arrives in Malaysia, here’s all you need to know

KUALA LUMPUR: Globally unveiled in 2023, the all-new Lexus GX has finally made its way to the Malaysian market. The upgraded SUV is based on a new GA-F platform and features a twin-turbo V6 engine, a full‑time 4WD setup, and serious off‑road capabilities, complemented by a striking exterior and a refined, luxurious interior.

The new Lexus GX is offered in two fully-imported variants from Japan, priced as follows -

Lexus GX dimensions 

Positioned between the Lexus RX and the Lexus LX, the GX is a large SUV measuring 5,015 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,865 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. It has a minimum ground clearance of 220 mm and a minimum turning radius of 6m.

Lexus GX engine and performance

Both variants of the new Lexus GX are equipped with a 3.5-litre turbocharged V6 engine that is tuned to deliver 354 PS of maximum power from 4,800 to 5,200 rpm and 650 Nm of peak torque between 2,000 and 3,600 rpm. Sending power to the wheels is a 10-speed automatic gearbox paired with a full-time all-wheel drive setup.

In terms of performance, the SUV runs from zero to 100 kmph in 7 seconds and hits a top speed of 175 kmph. Available drive models are - Normal, Eco, Comfort, Sport S, Sport S+, and Custom.

Touted as the genuine off-roader, the Overtrail trim exclusively comes equipped with a differential lock system, crawl control, downhill assist control, electronic kinetic dynamic suspension and a multi-terrain select system with different off-road modes, including Dirt, Sand, Mud, Rocks, Auto, and Crawl Control.

The refreshed GX has a bold 4x4 design with larger tyres, shorter overhangs and an enhanced approach angle. At the front lies an exclusive spindle grille that seamlessly integrates with the front skid-plates, lending the vehicle a powerful look. The rear looks absolutely eye-catching with a single line of light running across the width.

Lexus GX interior

The luxury SUV is thoughtfully equipped with a wide range of advanced features, creating a modern and comfortable space. The Overtrail trim has two rows of seating, accommodating up to 5 passengers, whereas the top-spec Luxury+ comes with a three-row seating for seven occupants.

Based on Lexus’ Tazuna cockpit concept, the new GX delivers an intuitive, driver-focused experience with a  12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch central touchscreen, and a heads-up display.
