New Mk8 Golf gets new software and hardware

KUALA LUMPUR: The new year is approaching and so are new cars and features. Recently Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launched the new 2022 S 580 e, and Hyundai Malaysia introduced the new Palisade, and the list goes on. Now, we hear that Volkswagen has brought something new to the table as well, no it is not a car but an updated and optimised infotainment system.

The new Mk8 Golf benefits from a wide range of functions, thanks to the new software and hardware.

What all improvements can be expected from the recent VW update?

As the German automaker, the voice command feature will now respond faster than before. Four times quicker to be precise. The improved voice control system will enable customers to effectively use navigation, entertainment, telephone, and climate control. The new update has enhanced the system’s ability to understand commands manifold.

All the driver/passenger needs to do is use the phrase “Hello Volkswagen” and the car’s natural; voice control system will get activated. The best part is the car can even understand casual phrases like “Where can I find a Japanese restaurant?” or “I’m cold”.

Improvement can also be seen in the navigation system and more while scrolling through the infotainment system.

With the help of digital microphones, the system can activate the air-con specifically for the person requesting it.

The touchscreen now comes with a sensor that detects the user’s finger within a few centimeters of the screen and automatically blocks the hazard warning light switch. Once the contract is established, the system will further block sliders for temperature and volume.
