New Volkswagen Arteon R-Line 4Motion: What’s on offer

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only recently that Volkswagen Malaysia opened the booking for the new Arteon R-Line 4MOTION. Prior to that, the automaker released a teaser of the refreshed five-door coupe which was very well received.

Now that the Arteon bookings are open and the launch is scheduled to happen soon, it's better we get to know the facelifted Arteon better. Let's get started with the variants

New VW Arteon variant and price

As suggested in the earlier reports the car will be offered in a new variant - the R-Line 2.0 TSI 4MOTION. Compared to the previous four-wheel-drive model, it offers more power and traction.

Though the automaker has not released an official price tag, the car is expected to burn a hole in the buyer's pocket with estimated figures going as high as RM 245,000 and RM 255,000. Yes, it is expected to be costlier than the ongoing model that retails for RM 221,065 (on-the-road, without insurance).

The new Arteon 4MOTION model if locally assembled, its price will include SST exemption until the end of the year.

The coupe will leave you mesmerized the second you will set your eyes on it. Its aerodynamic design, expressive design, athletic sportiness, and flowing silhouettes ignite desire. Few highlights being -

New VW Arteon cabin

Like the exterior, the new Arteon cabin is new and inviting. It includes a pleasing cockpit that offers a sense of calmness with luxury and feeling of exclusivity. It also gets some of the best connectivity features like -

• Exclusive Harman Kardon 700W digital sound system with 16-channel digital amplifier & surround sound
• 12 high-performance speakers
• Digital cockpit
• Discover Pro system combines navigation and connectivity with in-car entertainment controlled from a 9.2-inch touchscreen colour display
• Wireless App-Connect (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto)
• Voice control

The comfort and convenience factor is at an all-time high with the new ErgoComfort 'Nappa Carbon' leather sport seats with an electric 14-way adjustment for seat height, backrest angle, and seat cushion angle. In addition, it gets a surround-view camera, driver seat with massage, memory, and electric support, 3-zone 'Climatronic', easy open & close magic tailgate, air care 'Climatronic' air purification system, and maneuver braking. It also gets an expanded 30-colour palette for the ambient lighting system.

New VW Arteon performance

The Arteon houses a modern, efficient engine characterized by high power and torque. It is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI four-cylinder turbocharged engine that churns out a maximum power of 280 PS at 5100 to 6500 rpm along with a peak torque of 350 Nm from 1700 to 5600 rpm.

The power is sent to the wheels via a 7-speed DSG wet dual-clutch transmission. The car hits the century sprint in just 5.6 seconds.

For the owner's and passengers' peace of mind, the new Arteon comes with a fully integrated safety system. The list includes -

• Advanced electronic differential lock

• Automatic Post Collision Brake System '

Furthermore, the MY-spec Arteon is the first in the local lineup to feature new Volkswagen and R badges. Its exterior colour options include - Manganese Grey, Lapiz Blue, Deep Black, Oryx White, and Pyrite Silver. The previous hero shade, Turmeric Yellow, is removed from the list.
