Omoda C9 PHEV Malaysian launch is two days away!

KUALA LUMPUR: After rolling out the Jaecoo J5 earlier this month, Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia is now set to launch the C9 PHEV, which was previewed in August last year. The automaker recently teased the vehicle on its social media handle and confirmed March 18 as the official launch date. 

Omoda C9 PHEV: What do we know so far

• The Omoda C9 PHEV is the plug-in hybrid iteration of the five-seater C9 coupe SUV, launched in Malaysia in 2024. 
• It is powered by a Super Hybrid System (SHS) that combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with three electric motors (two at the front and one at the rear). The engine churns out a maximum power of 143 PS and a peak torque of 215 Nm, while the combined system output is rated at 537 PS and 650 Nm.
• The grunt is enough to take the SUV from zero to 100 kmph in 4.9 seconds, with the top speed reaching 179 kmph.
• Also part of the electrified setup is a 34 kWh battery pack that promises a pure electric range of 145 km (on the WLTP cycle). Combined with a 70-litre fuel tank, the C9 can cruise up to 1,100 km on a single charge and a full tank.
• Handling the transmission duties is a three-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). 
• In terms of design, the PHEV looks almost identical to its ICE-powered counterpart; we can expect a few exclusive bits for its distinctive appearance.
• Catering to modern demands, the electrified version is likely to be feature-packed as the ICE model, including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch infotainment unit, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, Head’s-up display, wireless phone charger, dual zone automatic climate control, power adjustable seats, ambient lightning, panoramic sunroof, a 540-degree surround view camera, and Level 2.5 ADAS system.

Omoda C9 PHEV: Estimated price and early-bird promo

The Omoda C9 PHEV estimated price tag reads RM 220,000. The  ‘super early bird’ package offers a rebate of RM 4,618, comprising a CNY “Angpow” RM 3,888 rebate and a free vehicle-to-load (V2L) connector cable worth RM 730.
