Pininfarina Battista grabs design award

KUALA LUMPUR: What Swiss are for watches, Italian are for cars - designing awe-striking products. Pininfarina is one of the most esteemed design houses and coachbuilders in the world. It is Ferrari's most favoured design house for ages and has built several hits for Fiat, Alfa, Lancia, and the goes on. As for Battista, it is Pininfarina's first standalone car, a fancy one indeed.

And we are here to discuss this beauty and its recent achievement. The production-ready, pure-electric hypercar, Pininfarina Battista, grabbed a coveted Design award at the Concorso D'Eleganza Villa D'Este. It is a high-end concours event on the shores of Lake Como in Italy.

It was an Italian-designed exotic car's second public showing in production-ready guise. Prior to this, the Battista made its US debut during the Monterey Car Week held in August.

At Concorso D’Eleganza Villa D’Este, Pininfarina revealed the Battista in striking Verde Paradiso metallic-paint and it worked in the brand's favour as the car was collectively voted by show-goers to win the Design Award.

The production-ready car at Villa d'Este also showcased the Carbon Accent Pack for the diffuser and lower body along with sustainable tan leather upholstery with quilting.

Though designed at the Pininfarina's Cambiano production facility, much of the Bittista's underpinning are from the Croatian electric hypercar, Rimac Nevera.

Few key performance highlights -

The Pininfarina's bespoke model EV setup pumps out a maximum power of 1927 PS along with a peak torque of 2300 Nm. IT touches the 100 kmph mark on the speedometer in just 1.85 seconds before attaining a top speed of 415 kmph.

Apart from Pininfarina Battista, the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este showcased several beauties from the years gone by (an area the event mainly focuses on). With a 1990s supercar theme, the event attracted cars like the Ferrari F50, 1996 Porsche 911 GT1, Bugatti EB110, Isdera Commendatore 112i, and Vector W8 Twin Turbo. The car that won the event was a 1994 McLaren F1.
