Polestar 2 makes ASEAN debut

KUALA LUMPUR: A dedicated performance auto brand from Volvo, Polestar has made its ASEAN debut with the launch of Polestar 2 in Singapore.

The made-in-China Polestar 2 is currently offered in two variants - the Long Range Single Motor Plus Pack and the Long Range Dual Motor Pilot Pack. The former is priced at SGD 214,000 (around RM 662k) and the latter retails for SGD 240,000 (approx. RM 742k).

With the above-mentioned prices, the Polestar 2 is cheaper than the plug-in hybrid 2021 XC40 Recharge T5 that underpins the brand’s CMA platform. Also, it is at par with Tesla Model 3 Standard Range 50 kWh.

In the future (around Q1 2022) an even more accessible Polestar 2 Standard Range with 69 kWh battery pack is scheduled to arrive.

Coming back to the two available trims, the single motor variant pumps out a maximum power of 231 hp and completes the century sprint in 7.4 seconds. It offers a range of 540 km under the WLTP test cycle. The dual-motor variant, on the other hand, makes a combined output of 408 hp and a peak torque of 660 Nm. It touches the century mark in just 4.7 seconds and offers a driving range of 470 km.

Polestar is also offering an option Performance Pack for SGD 256,000 which includes the following performance-enhancing features -

  • Ohlins DFV high-performance dampers
  • Brembo four-piston monoblock front calipers in copper-gold
  • Lighter 20-inch forged rims with performance tyres
