Second-gen Hyundai Palisade makes ASEAN debut in Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR: Globally unveiled in December last year, the second-generation Hyundai Palisade has now arrived in the ASEAN region, with Indonesia being the first market to receive the upgraded version of Hyundai’s flagship SUV.

Bigger and better than its predecessor, the new Hyundai Palisade features a bold design and tech that empowers and enhances comfort, catering to the needs of today’s drivers.

Variants & price

Hyundai Motors Indonesia offers the new 7-seater Palisade in three variants - Signature 2WD, Calligraphy 2WD and Calligraphy AWD, priced as follows -

Engine and performance

All the variants of the new Indonesia-spec Palisade are powered by Smartstream G 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol hybrid powertrain. It combines a 258-hp in-line four-cylinder turbo engine, an electric motor and a 1.65 kWh battery pack. The total system output is rated at 334 PS and 460 Nm. Power is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission paired with a 2WD or all-wheel drive system.

Exterior

In terms of design, the new-gen Palisade boasts a Range Rover-esque styling with a boxy & upright stance. The key highlights include - 

• A tall grille with five horizontal slats and active airflow shutters 
• Vertically-staked rectangular LED headlamps with daytime running lights 
• Unique clamshell bonnet with a rectangular-shaped indent
• Flared wheel arches
• Silver-finished D-pillar
• Vertically-staked tail lights 
• Faux skidplate at the rear
• Upper high-mounted wide stop lamp 
• 21-inch alloy wheels with turbine-like design (20-inch as standard)

Dimensionally, the body is 63 mm longer, and the wheelbase has grown by 68 mm compared to the previous model, making it easier for passengers to get in and out.

Interior 

The 7-seater cabin features a horizontal dashboard layout with soft-touch materials, sophisticated finishes, and a differentiated luxury ambience. Depending on the variant picked, the new Indonesia-spec Palisade comes equipped with -

Closer to home, Hyundai launched the first-gen Palisade in December 2021, followed by a facelift in January 2023. It is currently offered in two variants - 8-seater Executive and 7-seater Luxury, powered by a 3.8-litre naturally-aspirated V6 petrol or a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine. The price begins at RM 368,888 and goes up to RM 399,888.
