Shanghai Auto Show 2015: Lexus ES facelift revealed, addition of ES 200

Kuala Lumpur: The current undergoing Shanghai 2015 Auto show has been the source of all the buzz in the auto world today. Teased last week, Lexus ES, the facelifted version has finally made its appearance at Shanghai today. This full sized sedan, based on Toyota Avalon platform has made its appearance with a new front structure, a new engine for some markets, minor chassis and interior upgrades and a new array of safety features.

The standout change in Lexus ES remains the bold new face which has been filled with aggressive designing. The headlamps take a new shape, L-shaped LED daytime running lights, as they are popularly called. While the trademark Lexus grille becomes a bit more wide and is surrounded by a thicker layer of chrome around the entire length of the grille. The fog lamps have also undergone redesigning. The rear of Lexus ES has also undergone small improvements, the tail lamps again undergo internal graphic change, the number plate is put on with an X-shaped chrome finishing which connects the tail lamps. Some variants also sport rectangular exhaust outlets, and now there are two 17-inch wheel designs with 20 spokes for non-hybrid variants and 10 spokes for hybrid ones.

Inside, Lexus ES there is a three spoke multi-function steering wheel, gear lever redesigning and a 4.2-inch TFT LCD touchscreen are some of the changes on the inside. The color and trim palette have also been revamped, the new choices for paint including Amber, Cavair, Eminent White Pearl, Nightfall Mica alongside the 6 combinations available in the current line-up.

Countries like China, Russia and Taiwan get hold of a new 2.0-litre direct-injection engine, while other countries get hold of the same 2.5-litre, 3.5 litre V6 and 2.5 litre hybrid variants.
