KUALA LUMPUR: TC Subaru is ready to expand its local lineup with the launch of the all-new Crosstrek, replacing the second-generation XV. The compact crossover SUV was recently previewed here and is expected to hit the roads next month.

    Subaru Crosstrek: Key highlights 

    • The Crosstrek underpins the automaker’s updated Subaru Global Platform and measures 4,480 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2,670 mm and a ground clearance of 200 mm.

    • As the name ‘Crosstrek’ is derived from Crossover and Trekking, the vehicle boasts an urban appeal and go-anywhere ability.
    • With that said, the SUV has an aggressive, rugged appearance, featuring a large hexagonal grille, slim headlights, and chunky black cladding around the wheel arches and bumpers.
    • Other exterior bits include - C-shaped lighting elements (front and rear), LED cornering lights and 18-inch two-tone turbine-style alloy wheels.
    • Powering the upcoming Subaru SUV is a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine, which is likely to deliver 156 PS of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 196 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. 
    • As for transmission, we can expect a CVT gearbox combined with Subaru’s signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

    • Inside, the SUV is expected to come loaded with a wide range of advanced tech features, including an 11.6-inch portrait infotainment unit, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a digital gauge cluster, dual-zone climate control, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and power-adjustable seats.
    • As for safety, the Crosstrek gets Subaru’s award-winning EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure and sway warning, lane centring assist, evasive steering assist, and a camera-based driver attention monitor.
