Volkswagen and Wei-Ling Gallery raises funds through Arteon art car auction

KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) and Wei-Ling Gallery have successfully raised a sum of RM133,200 from the charity auction of Arteon art cars. The auction was held at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The proceeds raised from the auction will be used for a great cause and are donated to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA). Also, a token of appreciation was presented to the artists for their contribution.

The auction turned out to be a grand event and was symbolic to the collaboration between Volkswagen and Wei-Ling art gallery. The auction saw different creations of the all-new Arteon R-line, acclaiming the talents of 13 Malaysian artists. The project propagated the lineage that signifies high functionality with artistic form. Each of the artist created exclusive one-off Arteon art cars that marked a signature design. The collaboration also provided a great opportunity to the artists and collectors to scale models of the Arteon which are being transformed by the artists into unique sculptures.

Erik Winter, the Managing Director of VPCM , was very delighted with the organization of the auction and stated that “It was truly heartening to see Art and Arteon come together at the auction, and how much the bidders recognized the value of owning such collectable art pieces. What was more amazing to see is their enthusiasm and desire to contribute to charity, in this case, breast cancer awareness and support.” “The Arteon is more than just a car for Volkswagen. It also represents a way for the brand to engage with art fans around the world, as it has also been described many times as a true work of art. To have been able to work on this collaboration with Wei-Ling Gallery has been an honour for us, and we would like to express our sincerest appreciation to Wei-Ling Gallery and all 13 artists for this.”

Founder and Gallery Director Lim Wei-Ling echoed Erik’s thoughts on the project. “We are honoured to have partnered with Volkswagen to realise the Arteon art car project in Malaysia and are so pleased this collaboration has resulted in such a successful outcome. I am grateful to the 13 Malaysian artists who dedicated time and thought to the creation of the art cars to aid a worthy cause. The Arteon art cars are unique, collectable art pieces as evidenced by the overwhelming response to the charity auction, which managed to raise RM133,200 for BCWA.”

The Arteon is Volkswagen’s flagship model and has a very appealing and stunning design and performance. The new Arteon R-Line comes with a price tag of RM 225,490.
