Volkswagen Golf R 333 Limited Edition revealed in Europe

KUALA LUMPUR: Last year, Volkswagen celebrated the 20th anniversary of the R-badged Golf hot hatchback with the launch of the special Golf R's 20th Anniversary Edition. And this year, it has treated enthusiasts with another special edition of the high-performance compact car. 

The new iteration is called the Volkswagen Golf R 333 Limited Edition, named after its 333 metric horsepower figure. It will be sold in a limited quantity of 333 units.

So, what makes the Golf R 333 Limited Edition different from the standard model? Let’s know.

• The special Golf R is powered by the same turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine found on the standard Golf R, but here the power is uprated to 333 PS i.e. almost 14 PS more than the standard car. However, the torque remains unchanged at 420 Nm
• The power is sent to all four wheels via a standard AWD system that lets the hatch sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.6 seconds, which makes it a tenth of a second quicker than the standard version 
• The top speed is also increased to 270 kmph 

• The Golf R 333 Limited Edition exclusively comes equipped with an R performance Akrapovič exhaust system featuring titanium rear silencers
• The limited-edition car also runs on special wheels i.e. a set of 19-inch Estoril wheels wrapped with semi-slick tyres

• In terms of aesthetics, the Golf R 333 sets itself apart with a unique Lime Yellow metallic paint paired with black 333 decals representing its limited availability
• The cabin dons in an all-black colour scheme with carbon-fibre trims and front sports seats wrapped in Nappa leather. A numbered plaque out of 333 is also positioned on the dashboard

• Equipment kit includes matrix LED headlights, R-Performance Torque Vectoring, Drift and Special drive modes, adaptive cruise control, Lane keeping assist, and a 480-watt Harman Kardon sound system

“The Golf R 333 is the first R model with a specification predefined by us that leaves no customer wishes regarding performance unfulfilled – thanks to its extensive equipment,” says Hakim Halimi, Head of Product Marketing at Volkswagen R. 

Volkswagen will start accepting the bookings for the Golf R 333 limited edition on June 2 in Germany with deliveries slated to begin in October. The price tag of this limited-run hatchback reads €76,410, which is approximately equal to RM 376,467.
