Zeekr reveals its third model, the X Crossover

KUALA LUMPUR: Never heard of Zeekr? It is a fairly new car brand from the Chinese giant Geely which in the past has revealed two electric vehicles called the 001 wagon and the 009 minivan.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is the Zeekr's new EV called?

Zeekr has finally revealed the name of its third and latest EV called the X Crossover.
  • In which country will the Zeekr X first go on sale?

The Zeekr will be automaker's introductory car for the European market.
  • It was only a few days back that we informed you about the brand’s upcoming EV which will go on sale in the Europe region from most probably Q4 of 2023. However, back then the car was referred to as the 003 crossover and now its actual name is the X, breaking the brand’s numerical naming scheme.

    Zeekr X DETAILS

Before going on sale this year, the Zeekr X is reported to be unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. Though the details about the new crossover are limited at the moment, there are some things we know. For instance -

    • The Zeekr X will be built on Geely’s Scalable Electric Architecture (SEA) which also supports the smart #1
    • The latest crossover is 4,450 mm long, 1,836 mm wide, and 1,572 mm tall. Its wheelbase extends to 2,750 mm. Thus making the Zeekr X longer and wider than the smart #1

    Zeekr X DIMENSIONS

    • The latest Zeekr is a striking-looking car with distinctive LED DRLs which is part of a two-tier lighting setup including the matrix lighting tech headlamps
    • The vehicle features prominent creases on the bonnet and black body cladding on the sides
    • The bumper showcases vertical air curtains with additional black trim which extend towards the trapezoidal intake on the lower apron

    Zeekr X DETAILS

    • Thick C-pillars with curious perch points of the ORVM and beltline sweeping up towards it
    • Roofline gently slopes down towards the roof spoiler
    • The crossover’s aerodynamics is improved via its frameless doors and side view windows
    • Full-width tail lights, diffuser-like lower apron, and vertical reflectors are also part of the kit
      Zeekr X specs
    • The cabin gets a minimalist-styled vertical dashboard with a small digital instrument cluster and a large touchscreen infotainment system
    • The center console is separate from the center stack and houses storage cubbies and an armrest
    • The EV is expected to be powered by the same powertrain as the #1 including single-motor with rear-wheel drive and dual-motor with all-wheel drive setups. The power output range from 272 to 428 PS and a 66kWh battery pack
    • As per the automaker, the car will hit the 96 km mark in just 4 seconds

As mentioned above, the Zeekr X will be at the forefront in the European markets followed by the Chinese launch later this year.
