Leapmotor B10 launched in Malaysia, C segment RWD EV SUV with up to 434 km range, from RM99k

KUALA LUMPUR: Leapmotor has officially launched the Leapmotor B10 in Malaysia, adding a new C segment rear wheel drive electric SUV option to a fast growing market.

It sits roughly around the same size as a Proton X70 or Toyota Corolla Cross. The B10 is built on the brand’s latest LEAP3.5 architecture with Cell to Chassis (CTC) 2.0+ and is positioned as a practical, family friendly EV rather than a high priced tech showcase.

As part of the launch campaign, the all-new electric Leapmotor B10 is offered with an early bird package for the first 200 customers.

Buyers of the LIFE variant will enjoy a RM8,000 launch rebate, while those who opt for the flagship DESIGN variant will get a RM9,000 rebate.

The two variants offered at launch, B10 LIFE and B10 DESIGN, have an introductory price of RM99,800 and RM109,800 respectively. Without the promo, prices are set at RM107,800 and RM118,800 respectively.

The offer is limited to the initial batch of registrations under the campaign, making it the best time for early adopters to secure their B10 with extra savings on top of its standard equipment and warranty package.

Both use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and both share the same single motor powertrain. The key differences are battery size, range and cabin trim.

Two variants at launch, one shared powertrain

Under the skin, the Leapmotor B10 uses a single electric motor mounted on the LEAP3.5 platform. Output is the same for both LIFE and DESIGN, at 218 hp (160 kW) and 240 Nm of torque, with a quoted 0 to 100 km/h time of 8.0 seconds. It is not a performance SUV, but it should feel brisk enough in everyday Malaysian traffic.

Leapmotor highlights the efficiency of the electric drive unit, which weighs only 60 kg, operates at up to 94 percent efficiency and offers a power density of 2.67 kW per kg. The chassis targets a near 50 to 50 front to rear weight balance, backed by body torsional stiffness of 36,360 Nm per degree, numbers that suggest a solid base for both comfort and handling.

The electrical system runs on a 400 V platform with 2.5C fast charging capability, supported by liquid cooling for the battery and dedicated oil cooling for the motor. A smart AI monitoring system keeps watch over temperature and state of charge to balance performance, safety and long term battery health.

Battery, range and charging in Malaysia

Where the two variants really split is in battery size and range.

The Leapmotor B10 LIFE is the entry point into the range. It uses a 56.2 kWh LFP battery, good for 361 km of WLTP rated range, or 442 km on the older NEDC cycle. An 11 kW on board AC charger is standard and the car supports up to 11 kW AC charging, which fits nicely with typical Malaysian home and office wallbox setups. On DC, the LIFE supports up to 140 kW, and Leapmotor quotes a 30 to 80 percent top up in under 20 minutes on a suitable fast charger.

The Leapmotor B10 DESIGN moves up to a 67.1 kWh LFP pack, stretching range to 434 km WLTP and 516 km NEDC. It keeps the same 11 kW AC capability, but DC charging is raised to 168 kW, again with a 30 to 80 percent time of under 20 minutes. For buyers who travel more frequently between states, or who simply want a more usable buffer day to day, the DESIGN will be the more appealing option.

Both versions come with Vehicle to Load (V2L) functionality at 3.3 kW, so owners can plug in appliances, camping gear, power tools or even help charge other devices directly from the car. Given how popular outdoor and roadside activities are here, this is a feature that will likely see real use.

Size, proportions and exterior design

In terms of footprint, the Leapmotor B10 is very much a compact SUV. It measures 4,515 mm in length, 1,885 mm in width and 1,655 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,735 mm and ground clearance of 170 mm. That puts it in the same general space as a Honda CR-V or other C segment crossovers, big enough for family use yet still manageable in tight city car parks.

Aerodynamics are an important part of any EV’s range story and Leapmotor claims a drag coefficient of Cd 0.265 for the B10, which is a respectable figure for an SUV of this size.

Styling wise, the B10 leans into a clean, modern EV look without going too extreme. The front end is defined by full LED headlamps paired with separate chequered flag style LED daytime running lights, while the sides feature flush type door handles that sit flush with the body when not in use. The car rides on 18 inch “Star Sports” alloy wheels, and at the back there is a full width “Wing Star” LED tail light bar that gives the SUV a strong night signature.

Leapmotor also talks about a “Cloudtrail” waistline and “Star Ring” dynamic fenders with planetary halo style detailing, touches aimed at making the B10 stand out in what is becoming a very crowded segment.

Cabin, space and technology

Step inside and the Leapmotor B10 looks very much like a current generation EV. The dashboard is dominated by a 14.6 inch central touchscreen that runs Leap OS 4.0 Plus, complete with over the air (OTA) update support. In front of the driver sits an 8.8 inch digital instrument display.

The brains behind the screen is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor built on a 7 nm process, paired with up to 16 GB of memory and an Adreno 640 GPU. This combination should allow smooth graphics and quick responses, which is important when so many functions live inside a single screen. A 360 degree panoramic camera system is included, giving drivers a clear view around the car when parking or manoeuvring in narrow spaces.

On the connectivity side, the B10 is ready for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which will be enabled via OTA from January 2026 said Leapmotor Malaysia. There is also support for mobile app remote control, so owners can check the vehicle status, pre cool or pre heat the cabin, and lock or unlock the car from their phone.

Space and practicality numbers are encouraging. Leapmotor quotes an interior passenger space length of 2,390 mm, with front headroom of 1,027 mm and rear headroom of 1,005 mm, which should suit taller occupants. The main boot offers 430 litres of space with the rear seats in place and expands to 1,700 litres when they are folded down. Up front, there is a small 25 litre frunk that is ideal for storing the charging cables and smaller items. Across the cabin, the car offers 22 interior storage areas, from door bins to hidden compartments.

Comfort and design touches include a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade, adjustable ambient lighting and bamboo leaf embroidery detailing that runs through the cabin. Three drive modes, Comfort, Standard and Sport, let the driver tailor responses to preference.

The driver’s seat has 6 way power adjustment, while the front passenger seat has 4 way power adjustment, and both front seats are ventilated, a welcome feature in our climate. Between them sits a floating multi purpose centre console that integrates an armrest, dual phone holders, a 15 W wireless charger and extra storage space beneath.

Upholstery is one of the key points of differentiation between the two variants. The B10 LIFE comes with a Dark Grey fabric interior, while the B10 DESIGN upgrades to OEKO Tex Standard 100 silicone textile upholstery with a choice of Dark Grey or Shadow Grey ECO Leather for a more premium look and feel.

Safety, ADAS and driver assistance

Safety is a major selling point for the Leapmotor B10. The SUV has achieved a 5 star Euro NCAP rating, scoring 93 percent for adult occupant protection and 93 percent for child occupant protection. There are seven airbags in total and the car uses 12 high precision sensors to support its driver assistance features.

Leapmotor says the B10 offers Level 2 autonomous driving capability through a suite of 17 ADAS systems. On highways, Adaptive Cruise Control works together with Lane Centering Control and Traffic Jam Assist to help reduce fatigue in heavy traffic or long distance cruising. Lane Keep Assist, Emergency Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Departure Warning help keep the car within the correct lane markings.

Collision avoidance is handled by Front Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking and an Advanced Emergency Braking System, with Rear Collision Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Braking looking after the back of the car during reversing or when backing out of parking spaces.

The Blind Spot Detection system watches for vehicles hidden in the mirrors, while Door Opening Warning can alert occupants to approaching traffic or cyclists when opening the door. On top of that, Driver Drowsiness Alert and Advanced Driver Distraction Warning monitor the driver’s behaviour for signs of fatigue or inattention, encouraging a break when needed.

Taken together, the safety and ADAS package puts the Leapmotor B10 right up there with the more established players in the segment and gives family buyers a lot to consider.

Warranty, servicing and ownership

For Malaysia, the Leapmotor B10 comes with a vehicle warranty of 6 years or 150,000 km. This is made up of a 4 year or 100,000 km factory warranty plus a further 2 years or 50,000 km of extended coverage.

The battery pack is covered for 8 years or 160,000 km. Service intervals are set at 1 year or 20,000 km, and as with most EVs, there are fewer moving parts to maintain compared to an equivalent combustion engine SUV.

Colours

Buyers will have a fairly interesting colour palette to choose from too. The Leapmotor B10 is offered in Metallic Black, Light White, Tundra Grey and Dawn Purple, capped off by a signature Starry Night Blue finish that Leapmotor says is inspired by Van Gogh’s “Starry Night over the Rhone”. 

Inside, the Leapmotor B10 keeps things simple with a clear split between the two variants. The LIFE model comes with a Dark Grey fabric interior, giving it a more straightforward, functional cabin feel, while the flagship DESIGN variant steps things up with ECO Leather upholstery, offered in a choice of Dark Grey or Shadow Grey, for buyers who want a more premium look and touch to match the higher spec.

B10 LIFE VS B10 DESIGN

In short, the Leapmotor B10 LIFE and DESIGN share the same core recipe – powertrain, battery tech, safety kit, ADAS, screens and connectivity – but the DESIGN layers on more comfort and premium feel. You get ECO leather upholstery instead of fabric, powered driver and front passenger seats with extra adjustment and heating, nicer trim and ambient lighting, plus an upgraded 12-speaker audio system over the LIFE’s simpler 6-speaker setup. So the step up to the DESIGN variant is really about cabin luxury and convenience rather than performance or safety.

Leapmotor B10 Malaysia, a new player in the compact EV SUV segment

With the Leapmotor B10 now launched in Malaysia, local buyers get another fully electric option in the compact SUV space. On paper, it combines a usable WLTP range of up to 434 km, quick DC charging, a spacious and tech heavy cabin, comprehensive safety and a full Level 2 ADAS suite, backed by a long battery warranty.

Pricing from RM100,000 for the B10 LIFE and RM115,000 for the B10 DESIGN positions it as an attainable entry into EV ownership rather than a niche premium product. Once full local specifications, equipment packages and final on the road pricing are confirmed, the Leapmotor B10 will line up against a growing list of electric crossovers competing for the same Malaysian driveway.
