Co-developed with Geely, this first national EV underpins innovative Cell-to-Body (CTB) battery architecture and the world's leading 12-in-1 intelligent electric propulsion system.

The Proton eMAS 7 is a C-segment electric SUV and directly rivals the likes of Malaysia’s top-selling EV, the BYD Atto 3. Launched in late 2022, the Atto 3 comes in a sole variant, priced at RM 149,800.

Clearly, the Malaysian EV is more affordable than its Chinese counterpart with a significant price difference of almost RM 35k - RM 40k. The eMAS 7 is not only budget-friendly but also a feature-rich electric SUV. In today’s story, we will explore the 5 standout features of the Proton eMAS 7 that give it an edge over the BYD Atto 3, making it an appealing option for prospective EV buyers.

    Integrated Live Charging Map

The best-in-class 15.4-inch infotainment unit of the national EV features an integrated charging map. Exclusive to the eMAS 7 in its segment, this game-changing tech helps EV users locate the nearest charging stations in real-time.

Customers can locate over 1,700 charging points, covering more than 85% of public charging locations across the country. The real-time updates on availability, connector types, power levels, and pricing of the charging solutions help reduce range anxiety and add convenience for longer journeys.

Proton made this possible by partnering with all the leading charge point operators - Gentari, JomCharge, chargEV, DC Handal, Carput Zap and ChargeSini.

    Fully-reclinable front seats

Taking comfort to the next level are fully reclinable front seats installed in the Proton eMAS 7. The passengers can recline their seats to a nearly horizontal position when they want to take a rest or nap during long journeys or while parked. The reclining seats wrapped in comfortable leatherette upholstery and ergonomic cushioning provide a relaxed experience.

    Windshield head-up display

Another standout feature that differentiates the eMAS 7 from the Atto 3 is a head-up display. It projects all the essential driving-related info (speed, navigation directions, battery status, and safety alerts) on the windshield within the driver’s line of sight.

This safety gear provides real-time updates in an easily readable format, allowing drivers to remain focused on the road for a safer and more convenient driving experience.

    Headrest speakers

The Proton EV is also equipped with the best-in-class Flyme Sound System that has a total of 16 speakers thoughtfully distributed throughout the cabin. Out of these 16 units, two speakers are installed within the headrest of the driver seat.

This only-in-class feature offers a more immersive and personalized sound experience to the occupant. It ensures that the sound is focused around the listener's head so that he/she can enjoy music, podcasts, or other media without disturbing others in the vehicle.

    Ventilated seats

This feature comes as a big surprise for EV buyers. The eMAS 7 houses ventilated seats for both the driver and front passenger. Much needed in hot countries, the ventilated seats carry small fans underneath the upholstery. The system takes air from the cabin and circulates it through the perforations in the seat material, thus keeping the surface cool and dry. It is quite helpful during summer or long drives.

There you go. The above-mentioned bits give the eMAS 7 a competitive edge over the Atto 3; however, the latter also has a few USPs such as unique aesthetics, a rotating head unit, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity.
