1,2 Series range benefits from BMW Individual colours

KUALA LUMPUR: Happy news for prospective luxury car buyers, as two more BMW cars now benefit from the special range of BMW Individual paint colours. The list includes no less than 160 BMW Individual hues for the 1 Series and 2 GC models. And the first batch of cars with a few of these paints have already been built at the automakers Leipzig plant, the list includes the following hues - Nardo Grey, Speed Yellow, Verde Ermes Green and San Marino Blue.

What's shocking is the demand for these vehicles benefiting from BMW Individual colours, as Leipzig's order books have already been filled until the end of this year. Also, the next major order reads 180 BMW 118d cars from BMW Japan. These ones however are in the shade - Sepia Violet, Hockenheim Silver, and Ruby Red.

As per the automaker, the lead time for a particular Individual tone is 10 weeks, however, in case, a customer isn't able to find the exact splash BMW will create a colour just for that car.

In order to take up the job, the Leipzig factory has been upgraded with a new paint supply system and an integrated mixing area. Also the facility can handle smaller models series with ease. The facility can go over 5 cars per day with Individual colours.

Furthermore, customer paintwork requires additional supervision and staff. Processes like sign-off have to be performed manually and can not be carried out by robots. In case of matte finishes, the process is more colex and time consuming. For instance each matte finish unit takes 30 minutes more time.

Out of all the 160 tones, yellow, violet, red, and blue seem to be the more popular options.
