2016 Toyota Avanza Facelift Displayed at Low Yat Plaza
Kuala Lumpur: The 2016 Toyota Avanza facelift has made an appearance at the Low Yat Plaza ahead of its Malaysian launch. The model lineup would be including the base E variant with manual transmission, 1.5 E model with automatic transmission and the range-topping 1.5 S along with a G variant for the Malaysian market. The facelifted Avanza made its first debut at the 2015 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) and now it is all set for a Malaysian launch.

The facelift has also brought a number of exterior changes with it. A lot of differences can be noticed on the front and rear fascia of the flagship 1.5 S model and other three variants. Talking about the 1.5 S trim, it would be getting a Veloz-inspired mesh front grille towards the front fascia and the tail lights would also get the same red additions which were found on Veloz. Moving towards the side profile, the brochure also lists an addition of side skirts to the 1.5 S variant. Apart from that, the 1.5 S and 1.5 G trim would be anchored with 15-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 185/65 tires while the 1.5 E model would get 14-inch alloy wheels and the base variant 1.3 E would get steel rims surrounded by tires measuring 185/70 tires.

Moving towards the interior, the base 1.3 E model would get a different double DIN unit without a Bluetooth connectivity while the other variants would be equipped with a double DIN head unit with CD player, MP3, AUX, USB along with Bluetooth connectivity. Moreover, the range-topping 1.5 S comes with a 'sports-themed' instrument cluster while the top two models receive a multi-functional steering wheel.

Talking about the engine specifications, nothing much has been revealed as of now. But going by the Indonesian Avanza range, it would be powered by a choice of either a 1.3-litre or 1.5-litre four cylinder petrol engine along with Dual VVT-i. The 1.3-litre engine delivers a maximum power of 97 hp along with a peak torque of 120 Nm while the 1.5-litre engine churns out a maximum power of 104 hp along with a peak torque of 139 Nm.
Going by the brochure, the base manual variant would be priced from RM69,072. The 1.5 E model is expected to cost RM75,787 while the G variant would be rolled out with a price tag of RM78,477. Lastly, the range-topping 1.5 S model is set to be priced at RM80,810.
