2019 Proton Exora launched, price starts at RM 59,800

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton has finally launched the all-new Exora MPV in Malaysia. The car is priced at RM 59,800 and will be available in 2 variants - Executive and Premium. As expected from the teaser yesterday, most of the revisions are limited to the cabin with the exterior being unchanged.

On the outside, the new Exora doesn’t look much different from the ongoing model. At the front, the MPV features the sleek grille with chrome garnish that acts as a connector for the sharp headlights. The bumper gets faux air intakes with fog lamps at either end. The vertical mesh strip at the lower corner gives the car a slightly rugged appeal. On to the side, are present alloy wheels, body-colored door handles, and outer rear view mirror with turn indications. The rear end features vertical taillights and a tailgate spoiler. A shark fin antenna is an addition over the previous model.

It is the cabin that has received maximum revisions, and the 2019 Exora seems to be inspired by the recently revamped siblings, the all-new Iriz and 2019 Persona. Not to forget it borrows some specs from the X70 as well. For starters, the car features a new instrument cluster along with an attractive and informative head unit. Also, the ‘Proton’ lettering on the lower part of the frame adds to the appeal.

One of the main highlights of the car is the new 7-inch touchscreen display borrowed from the X70. It also comes with the much known ‘Hi Proton’ voice command system. In addition, the system supports 4G internet connection. In the X70, a version of this system enables online music streaming navigation, Wi-Fi hopspot, and live traffic update.

Also, the MPV offers ample amount of space in all the three-rows, ensuring utmost comfort even during the longest of journeys. The part leather upholstery looks great as well.

Powering the new Exora is a 1.6-litre Campro Turbo mill that churns out a maximum power of 138 hp along with a peak torque of 205 Nm. The mill is paired to a CVT automatic unit that transmits power to the wheels.

The biggest change can be seen on the Exora price charts and packages on offer. The 2019 Exora is now cheaper than before, the price of the Executive trim has been reduced by RM 2,208, while that of the Premium by RM 2,547. Service package includes - free 1GB of data for five years and three times free labour service.
