VW Malaysia is gearing up for the launch of two sedans - the Arteon R-Line and the Passat R-Line. The automaker has confirmed that both the sedans will be launched on the 12th of August, i.e., tomorrow. The two cars will be making a debut at the Volkswagen Tour that will take place from 12th to the 16th of August at the 1 Utama Shopping Centre.

Today, our focus is on the VW Arteon, whose ordering books got opened in October 2019. However, its launch got delayed and delayed with no sign of arrival. But now it’s coming for sure, and we are pretty excited.

Let us know the 2020 VW Arteon a little better, starting with its platform and dimensions

• The all-new Arteon is standing on the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform
• The sedan measures 4,862 mm in length, 1,871 mm in width, and 1,427 mm in height. The wheelbase on the Arteon reads 2,841 mm
• As for the cabin dimensions, the sedan offers legroom of 1,016 mm, while the boot space is 565 litre with rear seats in place and it expands to 1,557 litres with the seats folded

• Under the hood lies a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TSI power plant that makes 190 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 320 Nm
• The mill mentioned above will also feature in the facelifted Passat, and here in Arteon it will be paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission that will send power to the front wheels

• The all-new Arteon sedan features a very upscale design language that is hard to turn eyes around
• The major part of the sedan’s front profile is dominated by the vertical-slate grille that merges effortlessly with the faux air-intakes and headlamps
• The roofline merges with the rear in the most seamless manner, creating the classic fastback design
• The LED headlights with LED DRLs are way too stylish and illuminating making the unit both useful and an eye-candy
• Likewise, the LED taillights look great, and it is efficient and long-lasting
• Adding a touch of boldness is Arteon’s 19-inch Montevideo alloy wheels
• The R-Line high-gloss black accents add to the car’s swagger and style

• The cabin features a fully-digital Active Info Display that comes with HD, 10.25-inch display
• Taking care of the passengers’ entertainment needs is a 9.2-inch Discover Pro system that comes with gesture control and wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
• The seats are comfortable and are wrapped in leather
  Also present is an eight-speaker sound system

• The upcoming VW sedan is expected to come with a wide-lense rear camera system. It is hidden behind the logo helping it stay clean in rain
• Its rigid safety cage helps distribute force away from the driver and passenger
• In the event of a collision, the Intelligent Crash Response System deploys airbags, turns off the fuel pump, activates hazard light, unlock doors
• The car safety kit is expected to come with Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution, Electronic Stability Control. Overall the car is equipped with a total of six stability-enhancing systems
