2023 Honda Civic Type R caught doing test rounds before this month's debut

KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new 2023 Honda Civic Type R is scheduled to make its global debut before the end of this month. The Japanese automaker has been teasing the car for some time and even displayed the car on several occasions, though fully camouflaged.

This time, the hot hatch was spotted casually strolling in its homeland, and it still didn't show any skin. Both the new Civic Type R versions were seen on the road and caught on video thanks to an enthusiast on Twitter called FK7 HONDA.

The 2023 Civic Type R hatch prototypes were wearing license plates marked 1 and 2. And since they were roaming at night, the new lighting units and the graphics seem borrowed from the Civic Hatchback. The hot hatch is expected to showcase more non-Type R design bits at its debut.

The new Civic Type R is expected to feature several aggressive style bits like -

• Triple exhaust tips
• Massive wing
• Huge, low-profile wheels

Honda has not shared the engine details; however, the new Civic Type R is expected to be powered by a reworked 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. In its current version, the mill generates a max power output of 306 hp that is expected to go up to 400 hp in the new Civic Type R. The drive would be sent to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.

The all-new 2023 Honda Civic Type R is set to debut this month. With no date confirmed, we are hoping for a June 2022 last week's schedule.
