All-new 2023 Honda Civic Type R is on its way

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, Honda will soon introduce the new Civic Type R, probably next month. This means the automaker has really less time left in hand for the car’s development, however, with the recent Nurburgring race track spy shots, refinement seems to be Honda’s priority.

The images you see here show the car wrapped in this attractive red camouflage with the finer styling details still hidden. However, the overall front silhouette of the sports sedan shouts power. While the new Civic Type R showcases the Civic’s subdued styling, it gets all the elements of a Type R car. For instance, even with the full-body covering, we can see its large wing, sporty face, and center-exit exhaust.

Enough about the styling, the main attraction here is the POWER, don’t you agree. The new Civic Type R is expected to house the brand’s 2.0-litre turbo engine that’s slightly revised. The
In its original form, the unit generates a maximum power of 306 hp in the US-spec Civic, however, in the new variant, we are expecting a power bump (a good one, we hope). As for the transmission, Honda is expected to offer the new Civic Type R with a manual unit.

Helping the Civic Type R perform better Honda is expected to equip with several performance upgrades like a limited-slip differential. We are also looking forward to an aerodynamically designed exterior.

That’s all we know and expect from the upcoming Civic Type R that will make its global debut in June and will be revealed in the US in July. From there the sports sedan is expected to enter other markets.
