2023 Kia Sorento launched in Malaysia; price starts from RM 211k

KUALA LUMPUR: Kia first previewed the all-new Sorento in January and now the automaker has finally launched the car in the local market.

The all-new Sorento is available in three variants with prices starting from RM 211,498. The table below gives full details

Note, every purchase is accompanied by a five-year/100,000 km manufacturer warranty as standard, alongside a five-year/100,000 km free scheduled maintenance package.

In terms of design, the new Sorento is way different from the current model. It showcases the brand’s latest design ethos, i.e., ‘redefined boldness’. It features a tough-looking aesthetic accompanied by signature touches like -

• New hallmark ‘tiger nose’ LED grille
• ‘Tiger eyeliner' LED daytime-running light
• A wide lower air intake with wing-shaped air curtains
• Skid plate-like elements on the bumpers
• Automatic dual LED projector headlamps
• Vertical LED tail lamps
• LED fog lights
• Smart powered tailgate
• Alloy wheels ranging from 18- (seven-seater) to 19-inches (six-seater variants)

On the inside too, the new Sorento is a step ahead of its predecessor; both in terms of design and quality. Not to forget its long and advanced equipment list which includes -

• 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
• 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster
• Dual-zone climate control with rear air conditioning vents and third-row manual controls as standard
• Eight-way power front seats (driver gets additional two-way lumbar support adjustments)
• Folding second-row seats with remote folding capabilities
• Reverse camera
• Mood Lighting System
• Two USB charging ports for each row of seats

The 6-seater variants get a little extra compared to the others. Like a head-up display, leatherette upholstery, second-row sunshades, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and a 360-degree surround-view monitor.

Powering the new Kia is a 2.5-litre Smartstream inline-four petrol engine generating a maximum power output of 177 hp along with a peak torque of 232 Nm. The diesel option consists of a 2.2-litre Smartstream turbodiesel unit making 199 hp and 440 Nm. The transmission options include a 6-speed automatic for petrol and an 8-speed wet dual-clutch for diesel units.

The car’s safety kit is as strong as one would expect from today's vehicle. The suite of advanced driver assistance feature includes - Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go support, High Beam Assist, Lane Following Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist (Line and Road), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning support, Driver Attention Warning, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist.

Kia Malaysia is available in five color options namely - Jet Black, Astra Blue, Snowflake White Pearl, Meteor Grey, and Sonic Silver.

The 2023 Kia Sorento is offered as a locally-assembled unit, manufactured at the Inokom Assembly Plant in Kulim, Kedah facility.
