2026 BYD Atto 3 Performance launched in Malaysia – 449 PS AWD, 530 km range, RM149,800

2026 BYD Atto 3 Performance launched in Malaysia – 449 PS AWD, 530 km range, RM149,800

KUALA LUMPUR: BYD Sime Motors has added a new range-topper to the Atto 3 line-up in Malaysia, and this one is quite a bit more spicy than the regular versions.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much is the 2026 BYD Atto 3 Performance in Malaysia?

The 2026 BYD Atto 3 Performance is priced at RM149,800 in Malaysia. It sits above the Premium at RM138,800 and the Ultra at RM125,800.
  • How powerful is the BYD Atto 3 Performance?

The Atto 3 Performance produces a combined 330 kW, or around 449 PS, and 560 Nm of torque from its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. BYD claims 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds.
  • What is the range and charging speed of the BYD Atto 3 Performance?

It uses a 74.88 kWh Blade Battery, has a claimed 530 km NEDC range, and supports DC fast charging at up to 220 kW.
  • Called the 2026 BYD Atto 3 Performance, the new variant gets a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing a combined 330 kW, or around 449 PS, and 560 Nm of torque. That makes it the most powerful Atto 3 offered so far.

It is also properly quick. BYD quotes a 0-100 km/h time of 4.0 seconds, which is a big jump from the Premium variant's 5.5-second figure and the Ultra's 7.3 seconds.

The Performance is the only Atto 3 in the Malaysian range to get all-wheel drive, while the Premium remains rear-wheel drive and the Ultra is front-wheel drive.

The Atto 3 Performance uses the same 74.88 kWh Blade Battery as the Premium variant.

Despite having the same battery size, as expected, its official range is lower at 530 km on the NEDC cycle due to extra performance, compared with 600 km for the Premium. That is not especially surprising given the extra motor and higher performance output. DC fast charging is rated at up to 220 kW, while the Ultra is limited to 110 kW.

In other words, this is very clearly the performance-focused option rather than the maximum-range Atto 3.

What else does the Atto 3 Performance get?

Beyond the powertrain, most of the cabin and equipment package will feel familiar to anyone who has seen the latest Atto 3 Premium.

The Performance gets a 15.6-inch centre screen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument display, a panoramic sunroof, 50W wireless charging and ventilated front seats. It also gets the more sophisticated MacPherson strut front suspension with dual-ball joints and a five-link rear setup used by the Premium.

There are a couple of additions specific to the new variant, though.

BYD has added a windscreen head-up display, as well as a built-in vehicle refrigerator with cooling and heating functions. It is the first time the Atto 3 line-up has been offered with the latter.

The Performance also carries over the Premium's enhanced ADAS package, including Intelligent Speed Limit Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, Front Cross Traffic Alert and Front Cross Traffic Brake. It gets seven airbags as well.

    Only 69 units for Malaysia

There is one catch if you are interested: BYD Sime Motors says only 69 units of the Atto 3 Performance will be offered in Malaysia.

The number was chosen to coincide with Malaysia's 69th Merdeka, so this is effectively a limited-run model rather than a permanently available variant, at least for now.

The Performance is available in Ski White, Atlantis Grey, Harbour Grey and Cosmos Black. Interestingly, the new Gemilang Blue colour offered on the Premium is not listed for the Performance.

2026 BYD Atto 3 Performance price in Malaysia

The new Performance variant is priced at RM149,800.

That puts it RM11,000 above the Atto 3 Premium, which costs RM138,800, while the entry-level Ultra is priced at RM125,800.

That RM11,000 jump is quite interesting when you consider what changes mechanically. You are effectively moving from a 230 kW rear-wheel-drive Atto 3 to a 330 kW dual-motor AWD model, while also getting the head-up display and refrigerator.

Whether buyers actually need that much performance in an Atto 3 is another question entirely, but at least the price difference is not enormous.

There is also a launch package with two options. Buyers can either choose a wall charger with standard installation plus overtrade support worth up to RM6,000, or a six-year standard service package plus overtrade support worth up to RM5,000. Terms and conditions apply.

Atto 3 now has three distinct variants

With the arrival of the Performance, the Malaysian Atto 3 range now covers three quite different setups.

The Ultra is the cheaper front-wheel-drive version with 150 kW, while the Premium steps up to 230 kW, rear-wheel drive and the longest quoted range. The Performance then trades some of that range for considerably more power and AWD.

That gives the Atto 3 a wider spread than before, although the Performance is obviously the oddball of the family.

BYD says more than 13,000 Atto 3 units are currently on Malaysian roads. Adeline Lew, Managing Director of BYD Sime Motors, said:

“Since its introduction, more than 13,000 BYD ATTO 3 units are now on Malaysian roads — a clear reflection of the model’s strong appeal and BYD’s growing momentum in the local electric mobility market. With the 2026 Performance variant, we are building on that success while prioritizing customers’ ownership journey. Supported by BYD’s expanding network of 44 sales & marketing outlets, 28 service centres and 12 body & paint facilities, together with the launch of the BYD Certified Pre-Owned Programme, we ensure customers are cared for at every stage of ownership.”

Jacob Ma, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, added:

“As Malaysia celebrates its 69th Merdeka, we are proud to mark the occasion with 69 units of the new 2026 BYD ATTO 3 Performance. The BYD ATTO 3 has played an important role in making electric mobility more accessible to Malaysian drivers, and the Performance variant takes that proposition further. With greater power, all-wheel drive, advanced battery technology and intelligent features, it brings a new level of performance and driving excitement to a model Malaysians already know and trust.”

The 2026 BYD Atto 3 Performance is available for viewing and booking at authorised BYD showrooms in Malaysia, with the first public showroom push taking place from September 11 to 13.
