All-new 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class to debut on 23rd Feb

KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz has been teasing the new C-Class sedan for quite a while now, with most of us eagerly waiting for its arrival. Good news! The German automaker has just announced the 2022 C-Class debut date and time, i.e., 23rd Feb 2021, 2.00 PM CET (10.00 PM MYT).

The next-gen C-Class will be unveiled next week at the automaker's social media platforms and the event will be streamed online too.

The new C-Class is expected to arrive in two body-styles - Sedan and Estate. In the future, a jacked-up wagon model dubbed as the C-Class All-Terrain is said to follow.

All the 2022 C-Class models will be powered by an electric powertrain - first for a brand series model. The engine details are not confirmed yet, however, as per previous reports the lineup might include four-pots with mild-hybrid system and plug-in hybrid systems. Mercedes is said to introduce both petrol and diesel mills with electric assistance. While the latter option is most likely limited to the European market, the Australian received the C300 in the rear and all-wheel drive choices. The total power output would rest at 250 hp and a PHEV unit is expected to join in later.

We aren't sure about its exterior styling, however, the recent announcement was backed by the car's headlamp image. The lighting cluster looked more rounded and featured unique graphics.

On the inside, the 2022 C-Class will resemble the S-Class with the similar-styled dashboard, the same 2nd-gen MBUX infotainment system. The latter will include tablet-like digital dials and massive tablet-like digital dials.

Lastly, the new C-Class will underpin the revised Modular Rear Architecture rear-wheel-drive-oriented platform. It not only supports longitudinal engines but will also offer more cabin space.
