Audi S8 Plus, officially unveiled

Kuala Lumpur: Audi has finally introduced a range-topping version of its current flagship Audi S8. The newly launched sedan has been dubbed as Audi S8 plus, and as the name implies, it is a faster version of the previous S8. This model is being considered as one of the most powerful variants of the series till now. It has been designed with an aim to make it the sportiest sedan in the A8 family.

Most of the changes can be found under the hood where it is carrying a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre TFSI V8 engine. This powerful engine is capable of generating a maximum power of 605 hp, which is 85 hp more than a regular S8's engine. The maximum torque provided by this engine is 700 Nm, which can be raised to a figure of 750 Nm through its overboost mode. As a result, it can reach an acceleration of 0-100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds before hitting the top speed of 305 kmph. Its engine is mated with an eight-speed automatic gearbox that channels its power to all four wheels along with a more responsive steering and an adaptive air-suspension system. In addition to a defined top speed, carbon-fibre reinforced ceramic brakes with anthracite-gray brake calipers and the Audi ceramic logo, the dynamic package also includes a custom exhaust system.

Towards the exterior, one can find plenty of cues that make it look sportier. It has received a new spoiler lip at the back which is available in an option of body colour or carbon fiber. Apart from that, there are flaps in the side air inlets and blade on the front apron in CF. It has also been designed with a lot of black accents all over the body, like gloss black bits on the grille and window frame, gloss black diffuser insert with carbon surround at the rear, two oval gloss black exhaust pipes on each side along with the darkened tail lights. Further accentuating the sporty look are the 21-inch wheels with tyres measuring 275/35/R17. Talking about the interiors, the S8 plus gains a black leather upholstery along with Arras red contrast stitching. A contrasting red thread is also woven into the upper inlay while the lower inlay is designed in brushed aluminium. The use of S8 logo has been made on the three-spoke steering wheel along with the tachometer.

Other features offered by this luxury sedan includes Audi pre sense plus, four-zone automatic air-conditioning system, Bose surround sound system and MMI navigation plus with MMI touch and Matrix LED headlights. From the end of November, it would be made available in Germany at a price of 145,200 euros (RM612,296), so you can expect it to enter Malaysia soon.
