BMW i5 open for registration in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: It seems like the German automobile brands are on a roll this month with Mercedes-Benz launching and updating its model and BMW also adding new products to its lineup. While we have discussed the former in separate articles, here we’ll be talking about the upcoming BMW vehicle, the all-new i5.

BMW Malaysia has made no formal announcement, however, the automaker’s website now shows a registration of interest page for the upcoming BMW i5. It is amazing news for the local EV market as the brand will also be bringing the iX1 soon to the local market, even before the i5.

As per the official website, while the next-gen 5 Series will be codenamed the G60, its electric version, the i5, is called the G60E.

The newest member of the automaker’s 100% electric family will arrive in an 8-gen version and is considered the world’s most successful business sedan. It is a perfect combination of elegance, comfort, and premium connectivity. All this makes us all the more excited for the upcoming BMW EV.

What else is BMW planning for the Malaysian market?

In addition to the fully-electric BMW 5 Series sedan, the automaker will also bring the next-gen 5 Series to the local market, both in petrol and diesel versions with 48V mild hybrid tech. Also, part of the offering will be a PHEV 5 Series model.
