BMW iX3 electric SUV: In Pics

It was only a few days back that the new BMW iX3 specs sheet got leaked online and two days after that the new electric SUV got officially launched in the country. The iX3 is the second electric model introduced by the brand this year and is a more affordable alternative to the larger iX.

Today, we'll be discussing the X3 based electric SUV in detail with the help of several images. But before that let us first discuss a few highlights of the EV -

The new iX3 is offered in two variant options - Inspiring and Impressive. The former is priced at RM 317,360, while the latter retails for RM 336,360, on-the-road without insurance. Included in the price is a two-year, unlimited-mileage warranty which can be upgraded to a five-year warranty and service package for a few extra bucks, thus making the total to RM 330,800 and RM 349,800, respectively.

So, let's get started with the car's exterior design details.

Exterior

The BMW iX3 showcases a sportier design language and impresses all with its dynamic yet elegant contours. All thanks to its standard-feature M Sport package. Its blue accents and aerodynamic elements bring the car's electric nature into full effect.

At the front, the BMW i kidney grille forms the central element which together with the L-shaped air inlets in BMW i Blue underlines the vehicles all-electric nature. Giving the car a more focused look are its sleek adaptive LED headlights.

The side profile gets generously proportioned contours around the wheel arches housing 20-inch M Aerodynamic 890 M style wheels in Jet Black with aluminium accents. Behind the front wheel are also present Air Breathers in BMW M design.

The rear profile is equally impressive and showcases elements like - vertical Air Breather, LED rear lights with 3D cover glass, pincer graphics and horizontal indications. The Blue diffusers above the road and Frozen Grey trim complete the rear look.

Interior

The iX3 interior like its exterior effortlessly showcases a luxurious character from every perspective. Its pure sporting flair and luxury elements make every ride memorable.

Cockpit

The all-electric SUV comes with BMW Live Cockpit Professional unit that combines a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster with 12.3-inch touch-capable Control Display. The BMW i accents all around the cockpit emphasise the car's emission-free drive system.

Panorama glass roof

The panorama glass roof provides a light-flooded atmosphere and offers plenty of fresh air in the vehicle interior. It opens and closes automatically at a touch of a button or with the key. It comes equipped with a wind deflector, slide & lift functions, and roller sunblind.

Sport seats

Offered as standard fitment are super comfortable sport seats in perforated fine-grain Sensatec. It also gets a 3-spoke M leather steering wheel with multifunction and M emblem. Further enhancing the car's sporty accent is its Aluminium Rhombicle Dark trim strips.

Powertrain

Both the iX3 variants are powered by a rear-mounted e-motor delivering a maximum power of 286 PS and a peak torque of 400 Nm. With the given setup, the electric SUV can complete the century in just 6.8 seconds before hitting a top speed of 180 kmph.

The EV is fitted with a 73.8 kWh lithium-ion battery that offers a range of between 453-461 km. It takes around seven and a half hours to charge the iX3 via maximum AC charging power of 11 kW. Also, available is a DC fast charger at up to 150 kW (80% in just 32 minutes).

Wheels

The base variant of iX3 rides on 19-inch Style 842 aerodynamic alloy wheels, whereas, range-topping Impressive mode gets staggered 20-inch Style 80 M alloys.

Convenience and smart features

The all-electric SUV is loaded with several convenient bits like keyless entry, adaptive dampers, push-button start, power-adjustable front seat with heating and driver's side memory function, a Qi wireless charger, triple-zone automatic climate control, parking assist with the Reversing Assistant, hands-free powered tailgate, a reverse camera, 12-speaker, 205-watt sound system, and more.

Driving Assistant Professional

BMW iX3's Driving Assistant Professional offers supreme comfort and safety during monotonous or critical traffic situations. In addition to Driving Assistant, it also includes Emergency Stop Assistant and Lane Keeping Assistant with active side collision protection, and Steering and Lane Control Assistant with extended functions.

Park Assistant

Making parking super easy and simple is the EVs Park Assistant function. This function parks the vehicle automatically, perpendicular or parallel to the street, and leaves parallel parking spaces. The Rear View camera offers a clearer view of the vehicles behind the EV. Active Park Distance Control, on the other hand, offers increased protection against damage by parking.

Active Navigation

The Active Navigation Guidance comes as an extended function of the iX3 steering and Lane Guidance Assistant. It suggests a change of lane to follow the navigation route.

Active suspension

The car's active suspension adjusts the damper characteristics to suit any given driving situation, thus enhancing driving dynamics and tyre comfort. While the standard COMFORT setting improves the driving comfort, the SPORT program provides athletic damper settings.

Colour options

The BMW iX3 is offered in six exterior hues, namely, M Carbon Black metallic, Cashmere Silver metallic, Sophisto Grey Brilliant effect metallic, Mineral White metallic, Phytonic Blue, and Piemont Red.
