BMW Rolls Out ConnectedDrive Services in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur: BMW has recently rolled out its new suite of ConnectedDrive Services in Malaysia along with the official launch of all-new x1 in the country. While you might be accustomed to the term 'ConnectedDrive', the new suite of BMW ConnectedDrvie Services & App functions are only one of its kind for the Malaysian BMW Owners.

Justifying the above statement, we would say that the existing BMW 5 Series' models with ConnectedDrive Services allow their drivers to do basic things only like drawing a live Twitter feed from your iPhone onto the car's Control Display Screen or using an app to find the location of the lost car. But the new suite of ConnectedDrive Services available on all new F48 BMW X1, allows drivers to do a lot more.

For the meantime, the X1's ConnectedDrive Services and Apps comprise three features for the Malaysian owners: Intelligent Emergency Call, Concierge Services, and Remote Services. There is pre-loaded SIM Card embedded in this compact SUV, which maintains a constant data connection to allow drivers a quick access to Concierge Services.

At the push of a button, drivers can now connect to a BWM Call Center representative who then become a sort of 'personal assistant' to them. Instead of fiddling with their smartphones to find the nearest petrol station or a convenience story, Concierge Services of BMW ConnectedDrive requires a simple press of a button to inform the 'personal assistant' on the other side about the place you want to go or the thing you want to do.

As shown in the video, you can simply say, " take me to the nearest chicken rice shop,' and your 'personal assistant' will help you to find the best chicken rice in your location by transferring its GPS coordinates to your car. You simply need to accept the destination. BMW Concierge Services will be available round the clock.

The Intelligent Emergency Call Service helps X1 drivers to reach their nearest rescue coordination centers by the assistance of a BMW Call Center, whenever required or automatically in case of an accident. The location of the car and the severity of the accident is transmitted to the BMW Call Center, who will send for the help. The service can be also availed manually whenever drivers need a call for assistance.

The Remote Services of BMW ConnectedDrive turns the smartphones of drivers into a remote control so that it can perform certain functions of the car. All drivers need to do is download the BMW My Remote App from iTunes because it's available only for the iPhone users. The Malaysian X1 drivers having the app pre-installed and synced with their cars will be able to lock and unlock the car, flash its headlights or sound the hoard via Remote Services. The service will be provided free of cost for the first three years to the owners of all new X1 and then a subscription charge will be required. This feature is only available for the new X1 models and the existing BMW Models can't get updated with it.
