Bridgestone to supply solar car tyres in the 2023 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge
KUALA LUMPUR: Bridgestone has confirmed that it will supply teams participating in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge tires developed using innovative ENLITEN® technology. These tires have been developed from 63% renewable and recycled materials to meet the requirements of the 3000km event. Some of the attributes of these tyres include low rolling resistance, reduced weight, and wear resistance.

On September 5, 2023, BSTM and Universiti Teknologi MARA signed a sponsorship MoA at UiTM for the tyre supply. This coincided with the IICET 2023 program.

Commenting on "Keris", the official name chosen for Eco Photon Solar Racing Team's latest solar car, the Head of Mechanical Engineering Studies UiTM, Professor Dr Mohamad Hariri Abdullah said that the making of the solar car was the result of the hard work of 30 students from the Eco Photon Student Association of College of Engineering.
"KerisGen5 was created with the latest aerodynamic shape changes to increase speed of the car, we are looking forward to record a better time in this year's BWSC."
24 students were selected from the Eco Photon Solar Racing Team to participate in the Challenger class of the BWSC. This year holds special relevance for Bridgestone celebrates its 60th motorsport anniversary, supplying ENLITEN® tires during the 3,000-kilometer event to support the teams participating in the event.
