Chery O5 launched in Malaysia – Facelift Omoda 5, multi-link suspension, DCT, RM116,800
KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Malaysia has officially launched the new Chery O5, a facelifted version of the Omoda 5, now offered in a single variant.

Red exterior trim from the previous model has been removed, while the “Chery” wordmarks on the front and rear have been replaced with “Omoda.” The facelift also adds a new rear bumper, redesigned spoiler, and new 18-inch black alloy wheels.
Inside, the O5 carries over the 20.5-inch integrated dual screen but adds a frameless rear-view mirror, dual light vanity mirrors, wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, powered driver and passenger seats, and a cooled centre armrest.

Under the bonnet, the O5 uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 156 PS and 230 Nm, now paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission replacing the previous CVT.
A major change is the adoption of a multi-link independent rear suspension, the first in its segment, replacing the torsion beam. Drive modes have been expanded to three: Eco, Normal, and Sport.
Photo by Adam AubreySafety features include six airbags, a 78% high-strength steel body, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and a suite of Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with 18 functions, such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Detection, and Traffic Jam Assist.
The previous 360-degree camera system has been upgraded to a 540-degree panoramic camera. The model maintains a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating.
The 05 measures 4,400 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, 1,588 mm tall, with a 2,630 mm wheelbase and a 442-litre boot capacity.

Chery offers the 05 with a 7-year/150,000 km warranty, five years free labour service, three years all-inclusive free service worth RM4,000, roadside assistance, and a 10-year/1,000,000 km launch warranty package.
