Chery Malaysia teases 4 new models for 2026; Tiggo 9 on the cards?

KUALA LUMPUR: During a recent media briefing, Chery Corporate Malaysia detailed its big plans for the country, announcing upcoming model launches and network expansion strategies. The Chinese automaker has already kicked off 2026 with the launch of the Chery Tiggo 8 (without the ‘Pro’ badge) and has four more new models up its sleeves for the year.

One model in Q2 - A “redefining flagship luxury.” 

Chery Malaysia will launch a “redefining flagship luxury” in the second quarter of the year, which is widely speculated to be the brand’s most premium SUV ever, the Chery Tiggo 9. 

Two models in Q3

The automaker has teased two new models for the third quarter. The first is described as “Improved Performance and Versatility,” suggesting an upgrade with enhanced performance and versatility, while the other is termed as “Youthful Evolution of an SUV,” hinting at a younger, more dynamic SUV design approach.

One model in Q4

In the last quarter of the year, Chery will pull the wraps off a CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) model, details for which are unknown at the moment.

Among these upcoming Chery models, the Tiggo 9 stands out as the brand’s new flagship SUV. While we are waiting for official confirmation to drop, it’s a great idea to look at what the upcoming Tiggo 9 SUV offers in global markets to get an early glimpse of what to expect.

Chery Tiggo 9: What to expect?

• The Tiggo 9 is a three-row SUV that measures 4,795 mm in length and spans a wheelbase of 2,770 mm, offering plenty of space for the whole family.
• Globally, it comes in two drivetrain options - a 2.0 litre turbo four-cylinder engine generating 254 PS and 390 Nm and a plug-in Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) mill combining a 1.5 litre turbo four-cylinder engine and two electric motors for a combined system output of 381 PS and 610 Nm.
• Featuring a large, commanding SUV body, the global-spec Tiggo 9 comes equipped with a 15.6-inch infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a Sony premium audio system, wireless phone charging, ventilated seats, tri-zone / dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and power-folding seats
