China-bound Hyundai Custo teaser images are out
KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai’s upcoming seven-seater SUV, the Custo, is set to make its global debut soon. But before that, here we have some official teaser images revealing the minivan’s silhouette that provides us a good idea about its size and design cues. Developed by Beijing Hyundai, the all-new Custo MPV will be exclusively available in China.
Well, this is not the first time we are seeing Hyundai's new MPV as the vehicle’s leaked patent images surfaced online back in April. The minivan was also spotted while testing on the Chinese roads.
Coming back to the teaser, it shows the MPV’s front end dominated by a large radiator grille. It is the most attractive design element of this futuristic people-hauler. The three-row SUV also carries some Tucson-inspired elements like intricately designed headlights and the rear light bar, however, the tail lights feature a different C-shaped styling. The sliding doors on the sides and a flat roofline give us an impression of the Kia Carnival.
In terms of dimensions, the Custo is smaller than the recently revealed Hyundai Staria minivan. The former is 4,950 mm long, 1,734 mm tall and 1,850 mm wide. As far as the interior is concerned, the South Korean automaker is yet to reveal the details, although we can expect both 6- and 7-seater options on offer packed with several creature comforts.
On the mechanical front, the Hyundai Custo will equip a 1.5-litre petrol engine or a 2.0-litre engine, as confirmed by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The former kicks out a maximum power of 170 horsepower while the latter is good for making 236 horsepower. The MPV is likely to have a front-wheel-drive-only layout.
Well, the upcoming Hyundai Custo is exclusive for China as of now, the automaker might launch it in other Asian markets later on.
