Concept cars and celebrities spotted at the KLIMS 2018

The 9th edition of Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show opened its gates for the public on the 23rd of November 2018. Organised by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), KLIMS 2018 is no less than a treat for the onlookers. Apart from the on-road cars, the show had on display some amazing concept and preview cars. Some of which might be the inspiration for future production vehicles. Here are a few concept cars which are on display at the KLIMS 2018 -

Toyota FT-1 Supra

As we informed earlier, Toyota official distributor in Malaysia, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd brought several concept cars for the auto show. One of which is the Toyota FT-1 Supra. An iconic concept, the FT-1 Supra came to life at Toyota’s North American Design branch, the Calty Design Research. The FT-1 Supra takes inspiration from some of the company’s sports cars like the Celica, Scion FR-S, and the Supra.

Toyota TS030-Hybrid

Paying homage to Toyota’s significant racing world comeback, i.e., it's 2012 and 2013 participation in the FIA World Endurance Championship is the TS030-Hybrid. The said car was the first petrol-hybrid car to participate in the WEC. It is to be noted that it's a Le Mans Prototype 1 sports car.

Toyota i-Road

The Toyota i-Road perfectly go in-line with this year’s KLIMS theme - Beyond Mobility. The concept is the perfect amalgamation of a car and auto bike. It looks attractive and futuristic along with being Toyota’s solution to future mobility. In coming times, the Toyota i-Road will be a perfect example of the vehicle providing sustainability and efficiency all at once.

Lexus LS+

When Toyota can bring as many as three concept cars to the KLIMS 2018, one from Lexus is no short of a surprise. The Lexus LS+ was unveiled by the company’s President, Mr. Ravindran K. He said that like all the other Lexus vehicles, the concept also offers unsurpassed luxury and premium quality. The Lexus LS+ is developed on the Integrated Safety Management Concept and is developed with a vision of a casualty-free driving world. The concept plays an essential role in the world of automotive safety and comes equipped with innovative tech within its automated system.

Perodua X-Concept

Displaying Perodua’s future aspirations and lifestyles is the stunning X-Concept. Revealed at the KLIMS 2018, the Perodua's concept is a semi-autonomous car that is designed for the Alpha generation. The X-Concept perfectly goes with Perodua's this year’s Illumination theme and displays how modern tech plays an essential role in our daily lives. Apart from the X-Concept, Perodua’s booth is stuffed with other attractions like digital contest, performance, prizes, and games as well.

Nissan Leaf

The awe-striking Nissan Leaf made its Malaysian debut at the KLIMS 2018. It was sure a crowd-puller and is expected to enter the Malaysian mainstream market sometime in mid-2019. The Nissan Leaf is a 100% electric car and features a 40kWh battery pack that extends the driving range. Nissan claims that with such configuration, the Leaf can travel up to 400 kilometres on a single charge. Further, the car comes loaded with several advanced driving techs like ProPILOT single-lane autonomous driving that automatically controls the steering and maintains an optimum distance between vehicles. Simplifying operations like acceleration, starting, stopping, and deceleration is the intelligent e-Pedal system.

Major celebrities at the KLIMS 2018 -

The 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show attracted many celebrities, some major auto enthusiast and other crazy fans of the beauty on wheels. The list included names like Amyra Rosil, JinnyBoy, and Elizabeth Tan. All of them enjoyed the unusual exhibitor’s presentations, car and bike launches, and other fun activities.

While JinnyBoy seemed supremely happy and excited seeing the Toyota FT-1 Supra, Amyra Rosil was overwhelmed with the opportunity to see so many fantastic vehicles. This was her first time visiting the KLIMS, unlike JinnyBoy who attended the previous edition as well. Not only KLIMS 2018 introduced Amyra to the automobile world, but she seemed a bit fascinated by the rear sight of the longest Limousine. Like all, Elizabeth Tan too had a wonderful experience at the show and enjoyed the view of futuristic concept cars.

The Kuala Lumper International Motor Show is opened till 2nd December 2018. The open hours are 11:00 am to 10:00 pm (weekdays) and 10:00 am to 10:00 pm (weekends).
