FK8 Honda Civic Type R with Spoon accessories

FK8 Honda Civic Type R with Spoon accessories

KUALA LUMPUR:  Spoon, the Japanese tuner, known for high-performance parts of Honda cars, is gradually releasing the aftermarket accessories of FK8 Honda Civic Type R over the past few months. But now, finally, the firm has a complete range for the hot hatchback. Being the fastest front-wheel-drive hot hatch once, Civic Type R holds the records at the Nürburgring, and even today, it is not easy to overtake. However, the new accessories can make it faster, the firm claims.

Starting from the skin, FK8 receives an aggressive and unconventional treatment. The front bumper is now made of fiberglass and carries a larger grille with the ongoing curves. The massive air intake ducts are replaced by a wire mesh, which increases the cooling, as Spoon says. Behind the mesh, an oil cooler or inlet duct can also be chosen by the customers.

Front bumper

The rear bumper is also formed of fibreglass which carries rear vents to mitigate the air pressure of rear-wheels and to decrease the “parachute effect” caused by air accumulation behind the bumper. The customers can also choose the carbon fibre front splitter and rear diffuser for front and rear bumpers. Moreover, the fibreglass and carbon glass roof spoilers are also available. For the SW388 five-spoke forged alloy wheels, the new available size is 18-inch having a width of 9.5-inch and bolt pattern of 5×120 mm.

Talking about the high performance of the Spoon treated Type R, it features an N1 muffler kit. It is a straighter structure which rules out the centre Helmholtz resonator and tailpipe, and also the flow limitations at the flanges. The new set up enhances the engine output without losing the torque levels, though, Spoon did not reveal the specific numbers.

Cylinder head cover

The firm also offers something for the freshness of the engine bay. It includes special cylinder head covers that are available in red and yellow colour and a fabricated aluminum oil filler cap.

Other accessories include a new thermostat, aluminum radiator, reinforced driveshafts, stainless steel brake hoses, clutch slave hose, progressive springs, lower ball joints, and a stiffening plate.

Grab these go-faster accessories of Spoon and give your FK8 a refreshed mechanical set-up and a more aggressive exterior appearance.
