Geely Jia Ji, the Exora replacement wins 2019 Eco Award

KUALA LUMPUR: Geely is a name we all recognise after the partnership of the Chinese brand with Proton. Also, the by-products of this partnership like the X70, 2019 Iriz, new Persona, and the latest on being the 2019 Exora are doing pretty well for Malaysia-born auto brand.

Now, we hear that Geely Jia Ji that is said to replace the 2019 Exora soon won the 2019 Eco Award. Yes, you read it right. The all-new Proton Exora that arrived only a while back is running its last batch before Geely swaps it with its very own MPV.

The Geely MPV is said to arrive in the country within a year time frame. It is also the first Chinese hybrid MPV giving urban families a taste of energy efficient vehicles. Assuring our trust further on the EV, the Exora replacement, the Geely Jia Ji was named the most eco-friendly MPV in China. The Geely MPV scored the highest point at the 2019 China Eco-Car Assessment Program (C-ECAP).

The award program, the C-ECAP take several factors into account like -

• In-vehicle noise
• Fuel consumption
• Emission
• Hazardous substance

In order to meet the needs of the global market, the new Geely MPV would be offered in several engine options. Included in the list are 1.5TD PHEV, 1.5TD MHEV, and also the traditional 1.8TD fuel engine with an automatic gearbox.

The range-topping version of the Proton Exora replacement is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle that is powered by Geely Auto’s 1.5TD mill that is specially designed for hybrid cars. The said 1.5TD engine is paired with a Geely Auto China Euro Vehicle Technology Centre developed 7DCTH gearbox that’s highly efficient. Combined with the hybrid electric system, the plug-in version churns out a maximum power of 258 PS along with a peak torque of 385 Nm. The combined fuel consumption is registered at 62.5 kmpl, and the car offers a pure electric range of 56 km. The fast charge setup allows the car to juice-up fully in just 90 minutes.

This PHEV has already become the preferred choice of transportation in China, and we hope it to land in Malaysia soon.
