Guess who's back, back again, MG's back, tell a friend!

According to The Star,  SAIC Motor Malaysia has let the cat out of the bag, teasing us with a promise of shiny new fully electrified models. Looks like MG is plugging into the EV trend, riding the electric wave alongside big names like BYD, Chery and of course Tesla.

Which models? We're talking about the zippy MG4 electric hatchback and the swanky MG ZS electric crossover just like the ones introduced in Indonesia at the beginning of the year. These rides are set to shake up the scene with some wallet-friendly electric goodness.

But hey, MG isn't just about the electric buzz. They've got a garage full of hatchbacks and sporty numbers running on good old petrol, hybrids, and of course, electric zest.

The big reveal from SAIC Motor Malaysia was a nod to MG's glorious past, but we're pretty sure it's the future we're all revved up about. The Malaysian MG website is live, and while it's just giving us a taste right now, it's a hint at the "timeless excellence, racing DNA and British elegance" that's getting a fresh spin with a dash of Chinese tech wizardry.

Specs are not confirmed but here's what was introduced in Indonesia earlier this year so that we can have a rough idea what we will be getting.

The MG4 EV features a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor capable of delivering a maximum power of 170hp and peak torque of 250Nm. Additionally, it is equipped with a 51 kWh Ferrous Phosphate battery. Based on NEDC tests, this battery offers a driving range of up to 425km.

In terms of safety features, this electric vehicle is equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist, and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist with Traffic Sign Recognition.

Meanwhile, the MG ZS EV utilizes a PM Synchronous Motor supported by a 50.3 kWh Lithium Ternary CATL battery. When fully charged, it offers a driving range of up to 403km. In fast-charging mode, it takes just 30 minutes to reach 80 percent battery capacity.

In terms of power, it can generate 174hp and 280Nm of torque. Safety features for the MG ZS EV include Lane Assist System (LAS), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Front Drive Assist (FDA), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Intelligent High-Beam Control (IHC), Rear Drive Assist (RDA), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Door Open Warning (DOW).

For its prices, the MG4 EV can be had for IDR 433 million (RM129,193), while the MG ZS EV will set Indonesians back IDR 453 million (RM135,160). 

In a nutshell, Kuala Lumpur is set to see the re-emergence of the cherished MG brand in 2024, aligning with its 100th anniversary. Now part of the SAIC Motor family, MG is revving up to join the electric vehicle revolution with the debut of new EV models and we can't wait to see them on our roads.
