GWM Cannon achieves 500,000 production milestone; first batch open for booking in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The GWM Cannon pickup truck has grown tremendously since its launch in 2019. In just a few years since its launch, it has broken all records by reaching a production milestone of 500,000 units. With a global presence in over 50 countries, the company has announced that GWM Cannon’s first batch comprising 66 units can now be booked in Malaysia.

With the launch of the GWM Cannon, GWM’s pick-up truck series has attained various milestones over the past four years. It has been known to be the top-most choice for pickup trucks in China for 25 years in a row while also achieving remarkable cumulative global sales exceeding 2.45 million units.

The GWM Cannon Ultra will compete against the Isuzu D-Max, Toyota Hilux, and Mitsubishi Triton in Malaysia. Its front fascia looks very attractive, with a grille highlighted by an emblem at the centre and generous chrome elements. Additionally, the truck features automatic LED headlamps with chrome inserts.

The truck comes equipped with the following features -

• L2-level intelligent driver assistance systems, including automatic emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane-keeping assist (LKA), a 360 camera, and blind-spot detection (BSD) to ensure safety and comfort in both off-road and urban driving scenarios
• 4 driving modes and an Intelligent 4WD system
• 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and 7-inch digital instrument cluster 

• 7 SRS Airbags (Dual Front, Side, Curtain, and Far Side)
• Auto-hold electronic parking brake, electronic gear shifter, rear air vents, front electric seat adjustment, and a 3-Pin plug socket.
