Honda Malaysia once again teases 2020 City

KUALA LUMPUR: The digital fight continues between the upcoming Honda City and Toyota Vios. Don’t know what we are talking about? Please go check out our previous story here. Back to today’s highlight, Honda Malaysia dropped another teaser of the 2020 City, only this time, it shows us the car’s tail light. As for the wordplay, the said teaser Facebook post is accompanied by the following text - ‘Keep staring, we don’t mind’. Bold move, we must say.

So, we know how the 2020 City’s headlight looks like, and now its taillight with a distinct U-shape signature is out too. Apart from that, all the other details are under wrap but that doesn’t stop us from looking around for clues. Speaking of clues, the Thai-market remains our biggest source of information as the City recently made its debut there.

The Thai-spec City is powered by a 1.0-litre 3-CYL DOHC turbo engine that makes a maximum power of 122 PS at 5,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 173 Nm at 2,000 to 4,500 rpm. Transmitting power to the wheels is a continuously variable transmission with seven virtual speeds. Taking care of the suspension and braking are City’s old-time mates - MacPherson struts at the front and torsion beam at the ream, as for the later, it has ventilated discs and drums at both ends.

Like the Thai model, the local 2020 Honda City specs sheet is expected to carry the following features -

• Manually adjustable front seat - 6-way driver & 4-way passenger
• Cruise control
• Honda Connect telematics system (vehicle locator, remote start, and remote locking functionality)
• Apple CarPlay & Android Auto support

• Electronic Brake-force Distribution
• Brake Assist
• Vehicle Stability Assist

Once launched, the 2020 Honda City will go against the likes of Toyota Vios and Mazda 2 Sedan. Also, due in the Malaysia market is the 2020 Nissan Almera, indicating a substantial market for B-segment sedan.
