Lamborghini logs ninth successive growth year, sets all-time sales record

KUALA LUMPUR: The Italy-based super luxury car brand has shed out some eye-opening details. The numbers are certainly staggering to know. Lamborghini witnessed growth year-on-year for the ninth time straight without fail. Having sold a total of 8,205 cars in the last year, the company recorded its all-time high sales number in a year. This translates to a growth percentage of 43 per cent from the previous year.

According to the company, Asia Pacific region saw the most rapid growth, up by 66 per cent. While the US still remains as the top region for the brand’s sales, with 2,374 cars sold in 2019, China followed with 770 and the UK with 658.

Next on the list is Japan where Lamborghini sold 641 cars in 2019 followed by Germany with 562. The company is popular in the Middle East too which saw 387 car sales last year. Canada, Italy and Australia also contributed to the tally with 376, 370 and 147 car sales respectively. Australia showed a growth of 9.7 per cent compared to 2018.

The company sold Urus 4,962 times in the last year, the Aventador V12 1,104 times, and the Huracan 2,139 times. The Urus SUV was on sale the entire year and accounted for 60 per cent of the total sales.

Lamborghini’s chairman CEO, Stefano Domenicali said, “All these markets increased deliveries substantially and marked national historic sales levels. The year 2019 was the most successful in our history. The team delivered another substantial sales increase, taking us to unprecedented historic highs.”

"In only two years we more than doubled our sales numbers, a success that cannot be overrated. This clearly proves the power of our brand and the quality and sustainability of our product and commercial strategy,” he further added.

Moving forward, the company aims to retain a confident outlook and intends to develop hybrid versions for all its next-gen sports car models. Also, the Huracan surpassed Gallardo’s iconic number of 14,022 units being rolled off the assembly line in 2019. While the Gallardo achieved this feat in ten years of production, the Huracan managed it within five years.

Domenicali also said, “We further increased our high brand awareness, especially with the younger generations, having multiplied our following on social media channels to more than 40 million. All this is a real team achievement and I would like to take this opportunity to thank every single Lamborghini team member for their inspiration and dedication to our brand, as well as our shareholder and group for their continued support.”
