Meet the Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition
KUALA LUMPUR: Aston Martin has finally made a comeback in the motorsport scene after almost six long decades. And its return is marked with the debut of the Vantage F1 Edition. Based on the official Formula 1 safety car for the 2021 season, most of its upgrades mimic the track-only safety vehicle.
Aston Martin is offering the Vantage F1 Edition in two body styles - roadster and coupe. Both feature almost the same specs.

As per sources, it is the first core model in the automaker's lineup to benefit from Tobias Moers' (the company's latest CEO) direct input. This makes us excited to see what's in stock. Let's find out starting with its power and performance figures -
The Vantage F1 Edition is powered by the AMG-sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that makes a maximum power of 535 PS at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 685 Nm from 2,000 to 5,000 rpm. It is to be noted that the power output of 535 PS makes it the most powerful Vantage model that is not limited to the track. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission with an optimised torque cut during upshifts. The latter increases the feeling of precision and directness and also minimises shift times.

On the performance front, the Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition is enabled to cover the 0 to 100 kmph sprint in just 3.6 seconds. It can attain a top speed of 314 kmph.
Its styling bits include the standard vaned grille, unique graphics and quad exhausts, and carbon-fibre exterior detailing. Aston Martin is offering the Vantage F1 Edition in three exterior colour options - Aston Martin Ring Green, Jet Black, and Lunar White. On the inside, you'll find the car covered in Obsidian Black leather and Phantom Grey Alcantara upholstery with a choice of Wolf Grey, Spicy Red, Lime Green, and Obsidian Black contrast stitching.

Other noticeable revisions include -
- The front structural stiffness of the chassis is enhanced, allowing better steering response and feel
- Revised damper internals for effective force range
- Widened bandwidth provides an improvement in vertical body control via high-speed compressions and over crests
- Hiked rear spring rate and lateral stiffness
- Better traction and insurance compliance
- Revised steering system
- 21-inch wheels wrapped in bespoke Pirelli P Zero tyres

The highlight here is the full-fledged aero-kit including elements like front dive planes, large rear wing, full-width front splitter, and underbody turning vanes. These elements offer 200 kg more downforce compared to the standard Vantage.

At the moment, Aston Martin F1 Edition is limited to the UK market with its deliveries commencing from May 2021.
