Mercedes-Benz GLC teased ahead of its Geneva Motor Show debut

KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes Benz is all set to showcase its new premium SUV, the X253 GLC at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The company has also released a 13-second teaser video of the SUV that gives us a glimpse of its redesigned front.

The front resembles the new GLE with headlights placed within the boundary of the redesigned metal grille. The LED daytime light also gets a new finish with the brows having sharp corners like that of a thorn and also encapsulates the entire headlight. This design can also be found on cars like A-Class and CLS. At the middle of the front grille, sits the iconic logo of the brand.

The all-new wheel designs and color options give it a refreshing look. The bumper too has been revised with an improved front bumper guard and large three holes at the centre above which sits the number plate.

Apart from these, the SUV will follow the same spec revisions as the facelifted W205 C-Class, which includes a large 10.25-inch display, a Command infotainment system, and a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument display. However, the X253 GLC will not get the A-Class’s new Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system, which is a disappointment considering the premium segment under which it falls.

The X253 GLC will draw the necessary power from a hybrid 1.5-litre M264 turbo petrol four-cylinder and 2.0-litre options. The company is also bringing a diesel variant that comes with a 2.0-litre OM654 turbodiesel, which replaces the long-serving 2.2-litre OM651 unit, an unexpected change to say the least. Furthermore, the high-end variants of the SUV get the high-rated 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 in the AMG GLC 43 and 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 in the AMG GLC 63, the latter likely receiving no changes.
