MG Cyberster RWD launches in Malaysia – priced at RM299,900, EV roadster joins growing MG lineup

KUALA LUMPUR: MG Motor Malaysia has officially introduced a more affordable variant of its all-electric sports car, the MG Cyberster, now available in rear-wheel drive (RWD) form for RM299,900.

This move brings the brand’s eye-catching electric roadster within reach of more buyers, offering the same dramatic styling — including those distinctive scissor doors — at a lower entry point than the previously launched all-wheel drive (AWD) model.

Under the skin, the Cyberster RWD comes with a 340 PS and 475 Nm electric motor, sending power to the rear wheels and good for a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.0 seconds.

It's paired with a 77 kWh battery that delivers up to 508 km of range (likely WLTP) and supports DC fast charging from 10–80% in 38 minutes. Standard kit includes 19-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brake calipers, and a suite of design and performance features seen in the flagship AWD version.

From the outside, the car remains unchanged, still featuring the low-slung silhouette, Kammback tail, and arrow-shaped LED taillights. Inside, the interior maintains its racing theme, with leather and Alcantara upholstery, bolstered seats with lumbar support, and a tri-screen dashboard that includes a 10.25-inch digital cluster, two 7-inch auxiliary screens, and a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Built as a dedicated EV, the Cyberster uses an ultra-thin battery pack laid flat beneath the floor to maximise space and keep the centre of gravity low.

MG says the battery system includes measures to reduce cell expansion over time — a claim that leans on improved long-term reliability and safety.

Colour choices are the same as before: Dynamic Red, Camden Grey, Inca Yellow, and English White. The red and grey cars get a black-and-red interior theme, while the yellow and white ones come with grey inside. A red soft top is also available as a RM2,000 upgrade over the standard black.

Warranty and freebies

Buyers of the MG Cyberster will get a fairly generous ownership package:

• 7-year / 150,000 km vehicle warranty

• 8-year / 180,000 km battery warranty

• 8-year / 160,000 km motor and motor control unit warranty

• 1-year unlimited charging with JomCharge, including AutoCharge functionality

• Complimentary 7kW wallbox AC charger

The Cyberster AWD is also still available, priced at RM319,900.

Those interested can view the new Cyberster RWD at the MG “Dare to Love” roadshow at 1 Utama (Old Wing), Ground Floor Centre Court, from 9 to 13 July 2025, between 10 am and 10 pm.

Early bookings made at the roadshow will receive:

• One-year unlimited charging via JomCharge

• Complimentary 7kW wallbox charger

• Limited-edition MG Cyberster diecast model

MG will also be displaying its broader lineup at the event — including the MG5, MG4, MG HS, and MGS5 EV, with test drives available for selected models.

The MGS5 EV will be offered with a RM6,000 rebate, bringing the starting price to RM109,900 for the 49 kWh COM variant, RM119,900 for the 62 kWh COM Long Range, and RM129,900 for the LUX Long Range.
