MG S5 EV price reduced in Malaysia, now starts at RM 107,900

KUALA LUMPUR: After slashing the MG4’s pricing, SAIC Motor Malaysia has now announced the revised pricing for the MG S5. The all-electric rear-wheel drive SUV now starts at RM 107,900, making it RM 8,000 more affordable than before.

“This price revision reflects our commitment to make EV ownership more attainable for Malaysians as we prepare for the next phase of MG’s localisation strategy,” said Emory QiFeng, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia. “With local assembly plans already in motion, we are ensuring that our customers benefit from greater value and flexibility while we expand MG’s presence in Malaysia.”

MG S5: Extra savings and perks

Customers buying the new MG S5 can further save up to RM 10,000, with the “MG Ultimate Ownership Package,” which includes a complimentary 7kW AC Wall box charger or the option to select charging credits.

The “MG Ultimate Financial Package,” on the other hand, provides customers with personalised financing solutions through authorised MG dealerships nationwide.

MG S5: Key highlights 

• The MG S5 is a C-segment SUV, slotted above the MG 4 in the brand’s local lineup. 
• The EV has a bold and modern appearance, incorporating LED headlamps with ‘Racing Flag’ themed DRLs and MG’s signature Arch tail lights with the same distinctive motif. 
  

• Designed with an ultra-thin Horizontal Battery Layout, the MG S5 offers impressive interior space while maintaining a low centre of gravity. Boot space is generous, offering up to 1,441 litres including the underfloor compartment.
  
• The interior adopts a minimalistic approach with clean lines, smart storage options, and advanced technology. 
  

• Key highlights include a 12.8-inch central infotainment touchscreen with voice command, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, MG’s iSMART connectivity system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, vehicle-to-load functionality, seven airbags, and a full ADAS suite.
  
• Both COM and LUX variants of the EV are powered by the same 170 PS/250 Nm rear-mounted electric motor, making it the only rear-wheel drive EV in its segment. 
  
• As for battery, the S5 COM comes with a choice between a 49-kWh or 62-kWh battery, delivering up to 340 km and 430 km. The S5 LUX, on the other hand, features the bigger 62kWh pack capable of 430 km of range.
  
• The LUX variant supports up to 150kW DC fast charging, replenishing 10% to 80% battery in just 26 minutes. 

The price-cut move reiterates the MG’s confidence in the local EV market and its commitment to delivering high-quality, high-value electric vehicles as it accelerates towards local assembly in 2026.
