Mitsubishi Malaysia offers upgraded Triton Athlete and anniversary perks

KUALA LUMPUR:  Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) is marking two decades of operations in the country with a refreshed version of its range-topping Triton Athlete pickup—and a string of customer promos to match.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What’s new in the updated Mitsubishi Triton Athlete for 2025?

The refreshed Triton Athlete features a new front bumper garnish, decorative styling bar, tailgate assist for easier operation, and exclusive decals. It remains the flagship Triton variant and is priced at RM159,980 (OTR without insurance).
  • What promotions are Mitsubishi offering for its 20th anniversary in Malaysia?

Buyers of the Triton Athlete can choose between 5-year free maintenance or RM8,000 worth of rewards. Mitsubishi is also running a Scratch & Win contest from June 16, offering prizes such as the iPhone 16, iPads, Seiko watches, and Thule products. Financing options with interest rates as low as 0.6% are available via Maybank and Public Bank.
  • The Triton Athlete, already known for its tougher styling and premium add-ons, now gets a subtle update to keep it fresh. The most visible changes include a new front bumper garnish that gives the truck a slightly sharper edge, and a decorative styling bar to reinforce its rugged look.

Also added is a new tailgate assist mechanism to make opening and closing easier—especially helpful for daily use—and a set of custom decals to give it a more distinct road presence.

The updated model is priced at RM159,980 on-the-road (without insurance, for Peninsular Malaysia), and it’s clear MMM is positioning it as a strong value option among lifestyle-oriented pickups.

The upgrades aren’t mechanical, but they do add to the overall appeal for those looking at a fully-kitted, top-of-the-range 4x4.

So far, Mitsubishi has sold nearly 120,000 units of the Triton in Malaysia, with the nameplate earning a solid reputation for off-road prowess and day-to-day dependability.

“We are incredibly thankful for the trust and loyalty Malaysians have shown us,” said MMM CEO Shinya Ikeda. “After nearly two decades, the Triton continues to be a symbol of strength, reliability, and trust among Malaysian drivers... The enhanced Triton Athlete embodies our continued commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our customers.”

Anniversary Offers: Free maintenance or RM8,000 rewards

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, MMM is rolling out a set of special deals—most of them tied to the Triton Athlete. Customers who purchase the model during this period can opt for either a 5-Year Free Maintenance package or a reward bundle worth up to RM8,000. The offer includes a standard 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage.

Those financing through Maybank or Public Bank can also benefit from interest rates as low as 0.6%—a nod to affordability during a time when financing costs remain high across the industry.

Scratch & Win Contest starts June 16

In addition to the Triton Athlete promotions, MMM is also kicking off a nationwide Scratch & Win campaign for new Triton and XPANDER buyers. The contest runs from June 16 onwards, and any customer who books and registers either model from an official Mitsubishi dealership will receive a scratch card upon delivery.

Prizes up for grabs include the soon-to-launch iPhone 16, Apple iPads, iPods, Seiko watches, and products from Thule. The campaign is open at all authorised MMM dealers nationwide.

While this anniversary isn’t marked by an all-new product launch, the combination of minor product updates, financial incentives, and lucky draw giveaways makes for a customer-focused celebration.

It’s a calculated move from Mitsubishi to retain interest in the current Triton line-up, even as newer rivals begin to encroach on the segment.
