Mitsubishi Pajero Iconic SUV : Uncertain to see the Dawn

Kuala Lampur: As per the CarAdvice reports- President & COO of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC): Tetsuro Aikawa mentioned that Mitsubishi Pajero will pursue on its ongoing outward form, it suffers from an undetermined future. In the opinion of Aikawa, the stumbling blocks for the SUV are fuel economy and weight. With a far-sighted perspective of a replacement model that might come up in the sight, that too only after some years.

At the Tokyo Motor Show 2015: Aikawa stated that “there is an issue about the weight and fuel economy, so the market that we can sell is going to be limited.” In addition, he described that the company will rather switch in the direction of production of front-wheel drive SUVs. In the latest Tokyo Motor Show, the company has showcased its Mitsubishi eX concept and after checking the efficiency of the same, it might be used in the coming SUV models of the company.

Aikawa concluded that “With regard to Europe beyond 2020, and stringent CO2 regulations, rather than this type of vehicle (referring to the Pajero) I think people will look more into vehicles that produce less CO2 and have greater fuel economy.”

ASEAN, being the company's pivotal zone, the sales figure owes the main credit to Pajero Sport's demand. The president stated, however, “I’m not saying this is the last Pajero for the time being.”

For the time being, its a plan that a new high-end SUV will be launched by Mitsubishi to be placed in between the ASX and Outlander. It will probably follow the path of the concept XR-Phev II.
