More details of the new Ford Ranger revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: The new model of the Ford Ranger is all set to be launched later this month. However, much ahead of the official launch, SDAC (Sime Darby Auto Connexion ), the official distributor of the American company’s cars in Malaysia, has revealed some important details.

This new Ford Ranger lineup will have the first-in-class 2.0-litre diesel engine with two turbochargers. The motor will be mated to a new 10-speed automatic transmission unit. This gearbox unit is set to be offered in both the Ranger Wildtrak and the Raptor. Hence, with these new mechanical updates, the upcoming model will be having the smallest engine in the segment by capacity but will be the most powerful in the lot.

Apart from this, the 2018 Ford Ranger lineup will see many new features that are set to be the first-in-class. There will be AEB (autonomous emergency braking) that can detect vehicles and pedestrians around and warn the driver with audible notes. However, if the driver fails to press the brake pedal on time, the system will take over and apply brakes to bring the car to a complete standstill.

Other such features include the Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Warning. Also, the new models will have a feature that the company calls SAPP (Semi-Automatic Parallel Parking).

At the rear, the company has offered another interesting feature called Easy Lift Tailgate. This feature includes a torsion bar that will assist the user to lift and lower the tailgate effortlessly.

At the time of the launch, the new Ford Ranger will be offered in the XL, XLT and the Wildtrak trims. Moreover, the company is also bringing the Ranger Raptor, the first vehicle in Malaysia from the Ford Performance gallery. It would be the perfect pickup vehicle to conquer the tracks on both on-road as well as the off-road excursions.
