New Mercedes-Benz C-Class coming soon to Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz introduced the all-new C-Class in the global market last year in February and now it is set to roll out the updated luxury sedan in Malaysia. The automaker has started teasing the model on its social media accounts with a “Coming soon” caption.

Touted as the personal universe with total control, the upcoming C-Class is based on the brand’s second-gen MRA 2 platform and largely adopted the designing cues from the S-Class. It comes with similar slim headlights and rakish rear lights, however, its proportions have been scaled down for a more compact pack.

The executive sedan no longer comes with the conventional hood and features the three-pointed badge at the front grille.

If we talk about the variants of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, it is assumed that the German automaker will bring the model in two versions - C 200 and C 300, just like the ongoing car. Both are likely to be powered by mild-hybrid powertrains.

Under the bonnet of the C200, we can see a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbo engine paired with an integrated starter generator, producing a maximum power output of 204 PS and a peak torque of 300 Nm. The C300, on the contrary, is expected to get energy from a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder mill with ISG, delivering 258 PS and 400 Nm of torque. On the transmission front, the engines are likely to be coupled with a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

Inside the new 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, we can expect the advanced tech systems like a huge portrait-oriented touchscreen unit mated with Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX), “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant, augmented reality, a 10.25-inch instrument panel, and a Burmester sound system.

Well, these are just expectations. For the actual specifications of the new C-Class, we need to wait till the automaker officially reveals the model.
